Is anyone else sad to see it end? I'd like to see some happy-ever-after, but the dramas don't spend much time there. I guess it would be hard to show much of 6 kids in Teng chil's apartment for long; it would be hard to wrangle them, but maybe that wouldn't matter because that's life, messy. ;D How on earth would it be worth it for Hanam to miss three years of life with Seolchil, her pregnancy, the twins' infancy and toddler years?? He'd better get really famous. Nah, still not worth it. And what's with the medicine Taeja's mother gave her husband? For sleeping, really, or knock-out drops? How could she not know if it worked? Was she asleep while she seduced him? I enjoyed how everyone made an effort to get along at the end.

I thought this was one of the lamest endings ever. It was soooo tacked on and not-though-out, with the multiple babies and just craziness in general. Right, Hanam has twins and stays away for three years regardless. That's just nuts. Taeja's mom gets pregnant from the one time they have sex, on their wedding night (remember how embarrassed and ashamed he was the next day, and never laid a hand on her again?), and Ttengchill and Michill just pump out the babies, too. it's like whatever went before didn't even matter, and women are just there to have babies, anyway, so hey, happy ending, right?
I can't get over the way love stories play out in K-dramas. These couples fall in love so hard that they can't live without each other, and yet the moment they get married, any sense of their having individualistic relationships disappears and they just turn into baby machines, both men and women. No more soulmate stuff, it's "be a good daughter-in-law/servant" and instant pregnancy all round.

*applauds Lucy's post and gives her a standing ovation*
This is one of the worst K-Drama endings I've ever seen. It was up there with the ending of Stained Glass. Forward 3 years and everyone's happy and has a bunch of babies. After all the problems that Ilhan and Michill went through, I don't see why they would want to rush into having more children. Wouldn't you want to wait and see if the relationship was actually going to work first? One minute Taeja's mom is talking to Ttengchill about TC going back to school and working and then we see TC with another baby? Most ridiculous had to be that SC had twins and Hanam wasn't around. She's a soldier and he was going to be gone for a while, you'd think they would've waited.
I didn't really like this drama to begin with and the ending made me dislike it even more. The writer for this drama should never be allowed to work on another drama.

I too, was shocked and disappointed by the 3-Years-Later ending. All those babies! I really did like this drama... liked the characters and the actors who played them. When did Hanam learn that SC was pregnant? Those little kids were very very cute. I'm glad that goofy grandma didn't die. Too many loose ends, KNOV1 I am so amused by your suggestion that the writer never be allowed to write another drama. Ever.

Looks like I’m more in sync with the Chicago crowd than the Los Angeles crowd. “Chill Sisters” turned out to be a big hit among the Californians - to my astonishment.
Until now, I'd never believed that I couldn't like a drama series featuring Lee Tae-ran. But, midway through this one, I quit videotaping it . . . and as it dragged on, I didn't particuarly care if I even watched it.
Sorry to all the folks who loved it, but I thought it was a lousy drama series, topped off by a particularly lousy final episode.

I have to agree with all of you. After dragging more they should have, the ending was rushed and did leave you with many dumbfounded questions. I remember getting really aggravated when the show started (back in July) and still was aggravated when "3 years later" popped up on the screen. Seriously, how could the three girls all be having twins? Ah! whatever.
However, the twins in the soldier uniform were soooo cute! ;D
Hopefully, LTR will be in a show with a better ending next time.

I'm with you there Mikey, half way through, I got tired because it just seemed to drag on, so I stopped watching altogether. I tuned in yesterday for the re-run just to see how things ended and as expected, it was so lame. I'm glad I didn't miss much.

I had read on some other boards where people had complained about this ending, and I was sorry to see how right they were.

I read the spoilers so I was prepared for the time jump. Maybe that's why I didn't hate it. It was unsatisfying, tho. About Taeja's mother's wedding night: I got the idea that she just kept chasing him around the room and he wouldn't let her touch him. It wasn't until she gave him the "medicine" that they got together; the morning after, he was dancing around and singing on the way to work, yet he didn't seem to know why he was so -ahem-satisfied.

I definitely thought she caught him on their wedding night, and that's why he acted so traumatized the next day. The day after she gave him the medicine, he woke up saying what a great night's rest he'd had, and she was sitting there, frustrated, as if she'd been up all night watching him. I think she even said to herself something about "what's wrong with this medicine?" How gross to see a 50-year-old man acting that way, though. This is what comes of making such a fetish of virginity, IMO. You get grownups imagining that sex is something shameful that other people have to make you do.

Joanie and I will miss this one a lot! Frankly, this one became our favorite through lack of competition. Even Dae Joyoung is pretty subpar for a historical drama, despite some great actors in the cast. I didn't understand the bit about Hanam leaving either, but still, he's been the only male character in the 3 modern dramas we were watching that I could stand. Also, The Chill Sisters had a number of clever and non-cliched touches: Michill's doppelganger at the hospital and Deokchill's stepdaughters' gradual acceptance and appreciation of her were pretty well done, and Hanam's more direct style of communication (compared to the other younger males in most of the modern dramas) was refreshing. The writing was several notches above any of the daily dramas we've seen lately, though not at the level of Who's My Love?, but Lee Taeran was a joy to watch and even with the somewhat too "pat" ending (I do disagree about it being one of the lamest ever - MSMD, Hwang Jini and Winter Love Song were even more contrived and irritating), it still is one of the better modern dramas in recent months. We're sorry to see it end.

I agree with you Ken, I really enjoyed The Chill Sisters and the ending didn't leave me at all disappointed. It tied up all of the loose ends and everyone had a happy ending. Dae Joyoung is my first historical drama and I do not think it is all that interesting, but I have no others to compare it to. Hwang Jini's ending left me very cold, after being such a great drama.

I thought it was funny when Michil said, "She's so hilarious" when she was watching tv and her double was on. (Gag show?) Her face was turned away from the camera, but I'm sure it was her double.

Oh, I really liked this drama. I loved the idea that each sister belonged to her own generation and point in life (aside from Seolchil and Michill) and there was some real drama early on. There is so much I could say about the portayals. I do think the last 10 episodes seemed rushed (like all the parents suddenly just dropping all their reservations about Hanam and Seolchill's marriage -- I get the premise of that but still.) The self-parody was honestly funny too.
I did not watch the final episode, I kind of let the Wedding/Bio Mom's funeral end it for me. (I had read a spoiler, and thought eh ...) I see in another thread about how there had been a possible 100 episodes. As tired as some of you thought this drama was, I think 100 eppies would have been perfect to resolve some of these storylines properly.
Most shows, Kdrama or not, have disappointing series finales. At this point, we shouldn't be so shocked or let it detract from how good the show was.
