I started watching this show a few weeks ago and was stunned by how "real" it is. So unlike US soap operas. I love this show and can't wait to see the next episode, even though I read the spoilers already. ;D
And it's true that life is sometimes so full of drama and heartache. I know I've had quite a bit in my own life. It's not hard to believe someone with hepatitis who doesn't take care of himself would die. Makes sense to me.

Korean culture is very heavy on drinking, so liver disease is high there. Because of the terminal nature of most liver disease, there is a trend going on with less drinking and more karaokee..or as always more food

i watched episode 23 tonight. i do not like the way things are going. it has been a long time since i have cried so much while watching a korean drama, but this episode had me in tears.
mikey, you were right. this show is worth watching. maybe not the best of shows, but some fine qualities. i wish i had seen it from the start. i will not be so stubborn about viewing only the historical shows from now on, but i would certainly like to have another of those soon.

I agree with you luvarchfiend! Episode 23 was a real tear-jerker (I am not sure if that is the right word). I can imagine what the final episode is going to be like. It turned out to be a pretty good show to watch. I hope that Dr. Choi finds happiness though!

Episode 22 was just as tearful -- Inseok holding Yeonkung's hands after the surgery and telling Kiho he didn't want to see "the idiot's face" [when Kiho asked him to out and inform the husband/family. It was absolutely painful to watch Inseok say "I think I'm going crazy." Tear-jerker and a somewhat convoluted love story. Yes, it's about cancer and liver disease -- but the love story between Inseok and Yeonkung makes the drama twice a tearjerker that it is/was.

Drama ended here in NY/NJ -- it was too painful to watch. Inseok was cheerful to the end, even when Yeonkung's husband who took his picture [used at his funeral service] was so sorrowful he somewhat had a hard time focusing his camera. Can't believe it ended with Lee Inseok dying...The ending brought the cast together all cleaned out -- even the guy who plays a joker looked pretty good in a suit, and hair done. Yeonkung realled better with so much makeup on.
Gosh, they should bring back the actor who plays Inseok in a more cheerful role. Need to see him in a different light, at least in a drama where he doesn't die. The woman who died of cancer in Farewell to Tears just came back alive in another drama/replacement for Bizarre Bunch...

Actually, the actor who plays Inseok is, in fact, currently on another drama, called My Lovely Fool, on SBS. I saw a bit of the first episode and he seems pretty reckless and loud -- a total change in character from what we've seen on Thank You, Life.

Wow.. That guy is so darn stiff on this show, you'd think that's he was programmed to act, but he might just be a very convincing actor.

I hope I don't get verbally assaulted for saying this B U T I'm getting very weary of MopeyMom. At first I had great compassion for her. but nn more. The Mopester is surrounded by people who want to help her but she and her husband shut everyone out. Thamkfully, her sister has a greqt amount of spunk and spirit. and will possibly be able to get thru to MMom

Yeonkung's "mopiness" was sort of explained as depression [denial as in most cancer patients]. Also, it is supposedly her personality not to ask for help -- worked all sorts of jobs and lived in tiny apartments to get through college and didn't even tell her best friend.
As for Inseok being stiff -- his role is to have restrained emotions and emote professionalism being a doctor and all, plus the supposed love of his life is well, very much married. Instead of getting them back together, the writers decided that he should die a heroic death instead [help and save Yeonkung first]. Writers went for full melodramatic effect instead of being realistic.
Towards the end, Inseok was on a wheelchair weakened by his advanced illness. Yet oddly enough, he was standing and walking [without anyone's help, not even a cane] while getting on his plane to a clinical trial/accompanied by Kiho. Doesn't add up, of course! The drama had unrealistic flaws and peppered with insensible logic but it was good to watch nonetheless. I mean, it's drama, and dramatically well acted as it was written...
