They did show the scene with the mom getting hit by the truck, Day dropping his ice cream, but I don't remember seeing him sitting next to his mother like in the above picture. I think that part was cut off.

I didn't look at those pictures before, but I can see now why Day thought Eunhye looked like his mother.
That is so sweet and touching, his ghost mom comforting him and petting his hair.
