I can't believe our nightly masochistic exercise is finally over! Yet we'll miss it ... The last couple of episodes felt pretty rushed, as if they had to condense 5 scripts into two and JN and SY were irritating to the bitter end, although they didn't name the baby Sukjong at least. Binka is cute, but seems a little slow on the uptake like her parents, but cute enough to get away with it. After watching the last four daily dramas, I'm not sure that format can ever really work too well, though all of the shows had their saving graces: OMR - Lady Choi from JG played the evil aunt The child-raising scenes were very funny PC - Jinkook's ringtone was "Smoke on the Water" The Archfiend from AOW as Jinsoo's art teacher MSMD - Mijung (Yang Mi Ra) Put her and Kim Sungeun (Haein) in the same drama and well buy the DVD! The elders' dating scenes (with the grandfather from Who's My Love?) were cute. We loved "The Bear Song" that Jaemin sang for Himchan. Also, the fan boards for MSMD were very lively and were much more thoughtful, funny and well-writtenthan the actual show! So, as we bid goodbye to BB, we'll miss Haein and KJ and their parents, our laughing at how bad SY's HMO must be and our gritting our teeth at the banal dialog. But life is like that. "Sometimes I'm happy and sometimes I'm sad" and "every four seasons all that had happened but another year passed and I thought that life was like that." Jongnam actually suggested that SY catch their homeymoon plane instead of going to the hospital because "if we have the baby on the plane, we'll get to fly for free forever" or something like that. Yet we'll miss it. I can't explain it. Thanks everyone, for your funny and interesting insights - it was nice to see a lot of you last weekend at the Korean Street Festival!

So Grandmom finally reveals why it is her bunch is so bizarre (forgive me that I am not quoting directly):
"I have a bizarre daughter-in-law" (she gave up her son and then a chunk of liver) "I have a bizarre grandson who got married in a bizarre way" (married the mother of his baby about two hours before the birth of his child)
Here's my take on what makes some of the characters "bizarre," I hope you find them amusing and please add your own observations:
Sukhyun: his chief wooing technique -- KIDNAPPING! (don't do this at home kids!!) Jongnam: that being kidnapped would endear her to him more! Haein: buying running shoes is a signal that "I love you." Kiwoong: that his business featuring, presumably, that squid cucumber* sandwich concoction would become an overnight success Minsook: she had a child born with some sort of liver disorder, but never investigated potential development of further degeneration in future years (actually, shame on them ALL for not making his potentially life-threatening disease clear to him!!!) Jaedo: I can't think of anything bizarre about him, except, I have the bizarre urge to pinch his cheeks like some annoying aunt to her nephew. Grandmother: she has a spoon holder for 25 years containing some treasure, but never peeks! Dajung: um... she's NOT head-over-heels in love with that cute outdoor salesman?! Jaeman: he KEPT his collection of adulterous cell phones?! Nara: she answers the phone even though she knows the only people who are calling her are ones she's going to promptly hang up on Byungdoo: he had the tightest of control over the finances of his home for years... but a mere sprained ankle suffered by, in his book, loathesome ex-brother-in-law prompts him to permit his boarding for weeks! Yoojung: that she remained friends with a woman who perpetually appeared to have nothing but disdain for her.
*I forget the actual ingredients!

I miss The Bizarre Bunch characters! Bit-na is so cute! This was one of my favorite shows...there was comedy, romance, suspense, drama, etc. I wish there would be a BB part 2....continue on with more storylines. Lol, Teresa, your take on what makes each character bizarre is great! Each character has something we'll always remember about them...here's what I will remember about each one:
Ki-woong: he's so optimistic...he looks at the worse situations with hope that all will be ok in the end. Suk-hyun: his way with words..especially when he confessed his love for Jong-nam. Hae-in: her great ideas at work and at home. Jong-nam: her spunk and tomboy style. Da-jung:I think she's bizarre because she always says the funniest things that get her into trouble. Min-sook: her love for the family. Jae-do: he worked hard to provide for the family. Grandma: her happiness and joy for the family. Jae-man: he's so funny Nara: her evil face and ways Byung-doo: his sterness and seriousness Yoo-jung: her laugh when something amuses her Ok-doo: her soft voice Mal-ja: her funny moments at the cafe with Ok-doo Cider Park: his funny moments with Go Rira Go Rira: her funny moments with Cider Park Bit-na: her beautiful face
Who am I missing?

The cafe lady needs a private life. She knew Byungdoo very well. I wonder why they broke up. Was it after falling for HI's mom? (I guess it's too late to worry about learning her name.) I like the change in Jaeman's house. He is now sitting in the throne chair, and Nara is much happier and relaxed. Even when she chides Jongnam, her voice doesn't have that hateful edge. The baby's name is partly based on Nara, no? In the hospital, I thought I saw a flicker of concealed pleasure when Sukhyun told them "Bitna." Is Haein working full time at the lunchbox company? Is Jongnam taking college courses? I'd like to see more. Kiwoong and Haein's baby someday, Dajeong's wedding, a sibling for Bitna. I'm really going to miss this show. btw, in the credits I thought I saw Lee Seo Jin, the lead policeman in Damo (who did the sworddance shirtless )

Well, coming on the heels of a frustrating and stressful week, I am so frustrated I could cry. My tape of last night's episode (the finale) was unwatchable due to poor reception, and I was unable to tune in Channel 41 this morning before I left for work (I tried for 20 minutes and was late for work), so after watching faithfully for 169 episodes, I was unable to see the last episode. Thanks for nothing, Channel 41 and the Reception Gods, who evidently hate me (and many others in our audience.). Can anyone help me with a summary? I was able to make out the following basic ideas: The baby was born and it's a girl. There is a leap forward in time and Nara says something about how Jongnam beats the child. Kiwoong is wearing glasses, which I presume symbolizes that the business is going well and he's become professional. Then they all get together at the end at what looks like a gallery opening and Grandma says a bunch of stuff. :-(

I think KW is opening his 7th shop. He parks right in front of his house as people usually do (but he has a car now!) altho there isn't a space, so he's in a traffic lane, it looks like. Odd. In the courtyard, Grandma is tending her soy sauce on the shady side of the house that I never noticed before, all that brown pottery with lids. Nara, Haein and Dajeong are making kimchi. They all kid about getting contracts and getting paid by the company. Hasn't happened yet, I guess. They discuss what to do for Grandma's birthday, Dajeong wants to take a trip abroad and gets chided for always wanting to spend money. Haein suggest exhibiting all Grandma's embroidery and sewing, KW suggests it be a family exhibit, so they all find something creative they've done. Jaeman has photographs, Nara and HI's mom have the mulberrypaper dolls (a whole village full), Byungdoo has calligraphy, SH did a portrait of G'ma in charcoal?, Minsook and Jaeok made the food, maybe HI had painting?(her father said she was good, but I don't remember any), Dajeong had jewelry. There were lots of visitors and even a tv crew, who interviewed G'ma. After nudging, she talks about supporting her kids with her sewing. And how bizarre everyone is. (??) "But there is one who is not bizarre" and she is responsible for the family's success, she always gave the good things to everyone else, my oldest daughter-in-law. (more or less)
Byungdoo gave Okdoo and husband a passbook with all the money they had paid over 2 years so they'd have a stake and could MOVE OUT. They were grateful!
We saw Jongnam spank Bitna a couple of times, the first for not obeying and the second and third smack were for crying! I don't think the 2nd and 3rd hits landed tho. The poor baby really cried but was soon comforted by SH.

It really couldn't have ended in a better way. The whole family together; except, I think DJ's boyfriend should have been in the picture too! Halmoni- She definitely is the queen bee in that family. Bitna- what could I say, she is an adorable little girl... she's like a little doll you want to play with all the time! She will always be "daddy's little girl" Kiwoong- He seemed a little more serious in the last episode. He didn't giggle as much as he ususally do. Haein- The fortune teller was right... She stuck behind her husband and his family through thick and thin. She made her husband bloosom to the fullest Sukhyun- Jongnam is the only woman that will look good in his arms. Jongnam- Sukhyun is the only man that will look good in her arms. (and can we say Nara kind of rubbed on her a little bit? I mean as far as the sterness) Daejeong- She finally got her one and only wish! Daejeong's boyfriend- it would have been nice to see him in the final picture. And I love how Jaedo is looking out for him too! (I'm talking about where he came back from a delievery and is ready to go back out and Jaedo told him to drink something first before taking a new delievery) Minsook- she is a saint. Oh btw, was she rich before she got married to Jaedo? Jaedo- I want to pluck his eyebrows and pinch his cheeks Jaeman- It was really nice seeing him in that purple chair that usually Nara is sitting at, huh? Finally! Jaeok- she's finally getting it on... I wanted to see how Mr. Han looked like Byongdoo- all in all he's a big softy!! Haein's Mom- I think she's the only character who was consistant throughout the whole thing Okdoo- in the few episodes, her voice isn't as mousie as it normally was. Cafe Shop owner- She needs a family of her own.... Cider Park & Riri- In BB2, I want to see them married and bicker all the time at work Doman- It would have been nice to see him in Haein's old position. (Seeing it was implied that Haein is running the business with her Kiwoong.) So it's finally over, and the new show will start next week; but this has truely been the best Kdrama that I've watched. For me, YH was number one, but BB has replaced it. Even thought it ended in a sweet note, like many other KDrama's, the audience deserve to view it!!!!! (And Lucy, I'm soooo sorry to hear that you weren't able to view it. ) I know this post is extremely long, but I had to share it with all of you. I had to pick up my dress for my cousin's wedding at the cleaners yesterday evening, and when I got there the owner of the lady, who is Korean, was watching the show. Luckily, I was able to turn my eyes away from the television. Any hows, the owner and I were talking and I told her that that episode was the last episode ever. She was so amazed to see that I watch that show. She asked me how come I knew, so instead of getting into detail about this whole Kdrama forum thing, I just simply told her that I have friends from California (The California Board) who has been done with this show for sometime now, and they told me about it. She had asked me if I understood Korean, so I replied by, if it wasn't for the subtitles I would be lost. She couldn't stop laughing at me, she really found it cute that I watch KDrama and I'm not even Korean. ;D

There was so much talk in the begining about how Jongnam ended up being a part of this family and Jaeko's (sp?) dead (?) son and yet nothing materialized-- was this just a part of the story line or did I miss something? I thought for sure in the last week or so something would have been said-- it seemed so important when it was discussed on the board-- or did we all just read more into it than it needed to be? thanks

Nope, nothing more was ever said about Jaeok's son. In the end, I guess his early death was just a circumstance the writers trumped up to explain why Jaeok welcomed her so eagerly. It's a very strange thing to me that they made the loss of a child into a pretext for something else. They probably should have stuck with the fact that Jaeok was a widow in order to explain her loneliness.

Zorro, thank you so much, but another very kind board member also offered to send me the tape. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness, though.
