Sorry if I spelled his name wrong! What do you guys think of him? I think he seems nice. It was funny how he and Jong-nam were exercising together at the park. He seems like a good-natured, cheerful person.

I like him. However, on the boards that are ahead of ours, he seems to be quite unpopular. I don't know why. Maybe it's because his character is too nice.

He's cute, for one thing, but that almost goes w/o saying in K-dramas. (There are some obvious exceptions.) I like him! I didn't see last night's episode (5/9), but I'll watch my tape of the rerun tonight. I hope he's in it.

Okay, I might be totally wrong on this, but does In-bum kind of look like Jae-ok? I mean, the teeth, the hairstyle, the smile! They look so alike. He's a pretty sweet guy though. He's the kind of guy Byung-doo would want to marry his daughter off to. He's a self-made man and knows the value of hardwork. I can't understand, however, why he's so happy all the time. Well, I think I mean I can't understand why he's so nice, but I wish he would stop. He's going to get walked all over at the rate he's going.

Is one of his eyes different than the other? They don't look the same.

Okay, I might be totally wrong on this, but does In-bum kind of look like Jae-ok? I mean, the teeth, the hairstyle, the smile! They look so alike. I hadn’t paid much attention to this until I read BAE’s post, so I observed carefully during last night’s broadcast. Wow . . . You’re right: they really do look as if they have a real-life mother/son (or older sister/younger brother) relationship!

It's even more cute when Jae-ok looks longingly at him like she desperately wants In-bum to wed Jong-nam and i'm thinking "dear god, they WILL become "mother and son" if JN marries him."

When I first saw him on VOD, without benefit of subtitles, I thought for sure it was Min-woo, still alive. But he isn't. I think it looks like Jae-ok wants him for herself. Seventeen years is not that big a difference, is it?

I thought the same thing when I first saw him, he looks just like Jae-ok. He is so nice and cute. Jae-ok doesn't want him for herself, but for Jongnam. She thinks that he is perfect for Jongnam, a self made man who understands working people, without Nara as a mother.

Right, gman, the best part is no Nara!
Orabang means older brother, not man, as In-bum said. So it also means boyfriend? How sneaky of him, in a cute way!

Didn't she ask him how to say Man?
What's ajussi? It's about a man? What do you say referring to a woman?

Ajusshi is Older Man. Ajumma is Older Woman. Agashi is young girl (probably in her 20s). Ajusshi and Ajumma can be used to mean a lot of things. I've heard some people call their uncles as Ajusshis. For DILs, I've heard the Parents-in-law call them Agashi.

Thanks, Bae. No wonder I don't hear the difference, the endings are the same. Is there a status indicator in these words? In Dae Jang Geum it seemed (if I remember right) that a lower-ranked girl called a higher rank agasshi. Does it go both ways?

I don't think so..... Like I said, it can be used in a number of different ways. I think the word had a different meaning in that period, though. Right now, it simply means "younger girl."
