Hi, I just recently started watching this show and I don't understand who is related to who? When the woman called Nara to find out what happened with the wedding - who is that woman and man and who is their child? (I'm talking about the woman who has the grandmother living with them that sewed the ripped jeans.) Why was she so upset about the wedding if neither child is hers? Thanks much. If anyone can explain the connections of the cast to each other, it would make more sense to me.

We haven't seen the ripped jeans yet, Carly. Please don't give us any details about future scenes. (I explained about spoilers in your other post.) Have you discovered www.koreanwiz.org ? If you look under Dramas, and click on Bizarre Bunch/ Peculiar Man, Peculiar Woman, you'll find a list of characters, their actors, and even their ages sometimes. (A married woman keeps her family name, btw.) I had to copy it all out at the beginning because it was so confusing, and we had another drama starting at the same time. Basically there are two married brothers and their sister. Their mother lives with the older brother. The sister's son died (maybe) and she took in a homeless girl, Jong-nam, this year, and adopted her.

"Maybe" he died? Ginny, do you remember things differently than I do?

There's something about him or his death, mentioned by Jong-nam's former roommate, that's secret. Maybe someone explained it already, but sometimes people come back from the dead on soaps (on American shows, anyway). On Korean dramas, maybe, it's more likely that people disappear. (I didn't want to leave anything out, and I still have doubts about Min-joo.)

I remember this being talked about, and I've seen the show from the beginning, but I have no memory of it. I know things were confusing in the first couple of episodes (Who is this girl? Why is she being thrown out? Why is she giving that woman a scarf and saying it's from her dead son?), but I don't remember speculation that he wasn't really dead. It will be ineteresting if it comes up again.

It was really quick, the roommate said something like, Did you tell her about Min-joo? I was thinking that he ran away to join the circus or did something that would embarrass Jae-ok, but what's worse than your son dying?? Maybe this is a loose thread, never to be tied up.

Let's see . . .
The grandmother, Mal-ja, has two sons, Jae-doh and Jae-man, and a daughter, Jae-ok.
Jae-doh is working class, and is married to Min-sook. They have a son, Ki-woong, and his younger sister, Dae-jong.
Jae-man is married to Nara, who is the wealthy (and ornery) owner of "Well-being Home Shopping". They have a son, Suk-hyun, who has recently found out he is adopted.
Hae-in has been the fiance of Suk-hyun, but is now having second thoughts. She is the daughter of Byoung-doo and Yu-jung. Her ditsy aunt, Ok-doo, is having a low-key affair with Jae-man
Jae-ok, a widow, was despondent after her son, Min-woo, died, before the show began. A friend of Min-woo, Jong-nam, who is an orphan, began working for Jae-ok, and Jong-nam asked if the job included room and board, Jae-ok agreed. The two soon developed a Mother-Daughter relationship.
Jae-man is the figurehead president of Well-being Home Shopping. Suk-hyun is the Managing Director. Hae-in is a Producer. Ki-woog works under Hae-in, and Jong-nam has recently become a Guest Host.
Ki-woong has carried the torch for Hae-in for ten years, but she has always thought of him as just a friend.
At first, Suk-hyun and Jong-nam intensely dislike each other, but they grow to be in love, but they can't admit it, since they are of different stations in life, and Suk-hyun is engaged. Eventually, they realize their feelings for each other, although the still try to suppress them, because of opposition from the family.
There's another description of the cast on[urlhttp://www.kbfd.com/message/viewtopic.php?t=96&start=0]the Hawaiian board[/url]. Note that the name of Suk-hyun's mother was changed befor the show began airing.
