aj, I too noticed that sincere, apologetic expression on HI's face. She doesn't necessarily REGRET what she's done, but I think she feels bad for having been provoked to such extremes. Where did my post go? I must've hit del. instead of modify. It was something about Hae-in taking responsibility for what she did not putting the blame on other people for making her mad or provoking her... True, ducky. Up till now, we've only seen HI as a nice girl who doesn't make trouble for anybody, but just because of a few misunderstandings, she's going to end her relationship in such a cowardly fashion. It IS irresponsible behavior. I'm sure come Monday's episode we'll see NARA confronting HI about her actions and asking for the reason why, and HI will no doubt blame it on SH and his wavering heart. That's the spiel she gave SH himself.

Can anyone please tell me the relationships between everyone? I just started watching and I was confused why Minsook was so upset that the wedding was cancelled? Neither Hae-in or Suk-hyun is her child, right? Thanks.v

Where are you watching, Carly? What we know in Chicago is that Minsook cares a lot about Suk-hyun. If there's an explanation, it may be on the spoiler thread, for viewers who live somewhere else and are seeing later episodes than Chicago has seen. We don't discuss advanced scenes in the other threads, except sometimes among Chicago people who are only guessing. We hate it when the suspense of the story is spoiled for us. There's a lot of discussion if you start reading around all the character threads. Welcome!

Also, there's a list of characters thread somewhere which you can refer to. It sums up family relations by surname.

Ginnycat5 and BAE - thanks so much for your answers. BAE, I will certainly go to the site and learn from it. Ginnycat5 - so sorry if I spoiled anything...didn't realize that I was giving away anything. As I'm very new to this show, I absolutely don't know anything at all about it so didn't realize I was doing this. I'm in New Jersey. I guess I get the newer episodes before you guys do? Again, very sorry and thank you so much for the "welcome" to the board

Well, I have just joined the "I Hate Hae-in Club". What a ______, I won't divulge it here, but I would use the most hateful and vicious noun in the English language to describe her after her uncontrollable laughter when she divulged her knowledge of Sukhyun's assailant to him. Gee, how hard would she have laughed if he wound up with a concussion or a broken rib? That was as low class as it gets and I now understand how the mellow Californians could be so vehemently hateful of her.

In part, SH DID deserve a beating for playing two women, in whatever manner, the way he did; not disclosing the true nature of his feelings towards Jong-nam even right now! I would've made sure he got his broken rib and then some if I was Byung-do. But still, bursting out laughing like that is pretty rude and inconsiderate of her. Just goes to show you that HI isn't as perfect as she'd like us to believe her to be.

It's pretty hypocritical of her to act friendly to Suk-hyun and smiley, then think it's funny that he was hurt. Even her father didn't enjoy it, because he was angry at that point. I think it was satisfying but it didn't make him gleeful. It could be that HI was picturing her father punching him, but that wouldn't do it, would it?

That particular scene was probably the most bizarre thing I’ve witnessed on any K-drama lately. Even now, I can’t for the life of me understand what Hae-in might have found so amusing about Suk-hyun getting beaten up by her father (to my way of thinking, it would have been much more in Hae-in’s character to have felt embarrassed and ashamed about the whole incident).
Perhaps, though, our view is colored somewhat by the fact that we (the viewers) actually got to watch as Hae-in’s psycho-scary father assaulted Suk-hyun. Maybe she’s imagining something a little less frightful.
Or, maybe Hae-in is even more like her father than I imagined - and if so, that's something not to be proud of.

I don't know that many people dislike her, I don't really like her personality, she's boring, even she's a pretty woman...

At first I also was shocked that she was laughing, but then I thought about it and decided if my father had done that to the man who spurned me I would have also found it quite amusing. It really made me like Haein more because she showed some personality and not just her goody-two-shoes boring self. Go Haein. You deserve some happiness in life and we know it would not have been with Sukhyun.

I think part of it is that Suk-hyun obviously knew who his assailant was, but claimed he couldn't recognize him, due to a mask and cap.
It's like Suk-hyun felt he deserved to get roughed up for the way he two-timed Hae-in. She is probably amused that he couldn't be honest about Jong-nam, with his typical arrogance, but then meekly took the punishment.

I thought it was funny that Haein was amused, and embarrassed that she was amused. She tried not to laugh, she just couldn't help it. It is kind of funny if you think about it. Although that was pretty severe that Sukyhun's shoulder popped out. But Sukyhun didn't have to wear the sling long...
