I have been reading in the SoCal board for a while where it seems quite a lot of people don't like the character Hae-in. I think we are far enough in Chicago now to ask here: what do you think of Hae-in?
Personally, I like her. Yes, she's a little distant, but I think that will make it all the more notable when she finally opens up (Which I suspect she will). I also like the way she carries herself in a professional manner, even when she's upset. Suk-hyun, on the other hand, gets all wierd, and pouts like a baby.

I don't really dislike Haein she's just so boring and stiff. If she could only loosen up a little I think she would be a little more likable. It's like she's two different people when she's around Sukyun and Kiwoong. When she's with Sukyun she all about being the dutiful wife to be and she kinda of looses her personality, and she is also kind of bossy around Sukyun(I think she may turn into Nara if she marries him). But when she's with Kiwoong, it's a totally different story, she loosens up, she's playful, full of spirit! She seem more comfortable around him( I know she has known him for 10 years but c'mon she's engaged to Sukyun she should be comfortable with him) I think Haein needs to open her eyes and realize that Kiwoong is the one for her and not Sukyun. That's just my take on Haein!

I thought it was tacky of her to ask him to give her money for the wine she was going to buy his father. I don't know what etiquette is like in Korea, but here, if you can't afford to make a splash with a present, then give something you can afford. Don't go telling other people to fork over.

I was actually thinking similar thoughts watching tonight's ep. Why doesn't she think that Kiwoong would have feelings for her? I thought there was more to their relationship than what was being mentioned tonight, but that was a long time ago. I'm starting to feel a bit uneasy with her recent resentment of Jongnam, but on the other hand, I see trouble brewing with Jongnam and Sukhyun (why is he suddenly becoming "Mr. Personality" on these "dates" with Jongnam and he's still a stiff with Haein?) I don't know that I dislike her, but I don't think she's being honest with herself. Obviously the engagement to Sukhyun is a great move economically and professionally, but even she is beginning to see the conflict. Yeah Lucy, that wine thing was kind of tacky, especially since she is reasonably well paid and comes from a fairly well to do family.

Gosh, I thought the wine thing was Haein's attempt at being playful...I always seem to have a different take on certain scenes than everyone else. LOL, I feel like I'm watching the dramas incorrectly, if there's such a thing.

I do agree that she probably thought she was being playful--I mean, there was an element of that--but honestly, it arose out of a comment one of them made that his father liked nice things, and she said she couldn't afford nice wine and he should help pay for that. If she was totally kidding, she didn't do a very good job of convincing me! There is so much importance tied to a gift (and it's the first gift she's giving the father) that I think it was a bit of a faux pas to even mention money, considering that she is not a joking-around sort of person. The most she ever does to show a sense of humor is give that sidelong, faux-reproachful look to people and then smile afterward. I guess I just don't like her and I'm picking at her to find fault.

Didn't Suk-hyun start it by saying his father only liked the good stuff? So she said, ok, you kick in half (sinced you placed the standard so high). They were both sort of kidding, but not entirely. Since gift-giving is so frought with meaning, is it alright for Suk-hyun to have said what his father would find desirable, knowing that his family is more wealthy? (I guess she asked him for a suggestion, tho, didn't she?)

He's so different when he's around Jong-nam, it's like he's a totally different person. Kinda like the way Haein is around Kiwoong. Both JN and KW bring out the best in the other two. Haein is not unlikeable, she's just incredibly rigid. She doesn't even know how to joke properly in that case, like Lucy mentioned. :

Alright, I'm a little fuzzy on the details here: Haein and Kiwoong went to high school together and did broadcasting club together, right? How, exactly, did she get hooked up with Sukhyun, why hadn't they met before and how/when did she lay reality out for Kiwoong? I have to admit, that move by the grandmother was totally out of the blue. I think that the perfect couple would be Kiwoong & Jongnam, but it seems as though each of them tends to bring out the living, breathing human inside their fellow cast members H & S.

Actually CaptainV, Haein DID meet Sukhyun in school and I think they were younger than high school too. There was a scene when Haein first met Sukhyun's parents where the dad was remembering when Haein used to come over as a child and cry all the time until Kiwoong would cheer her up and Nara shushed dad quickly for bringing up Kiwoong's name. I guess grandma didn't remember that though she should have since she was the one that would always bring Kiwoong over to his cousin's house. But although I agree with you completely that Kiwoong and Jongnam would be a perfect couple, I think their destiny is with the two stiffs.

I think Hae-in and Suk-hyun were set up by their mothers, who seem to be old friends.
Ki-woong had proposed to Hae-in 99 times throughout their friendship, but she never took it seriously. When Ki-woong got his first paycheck, he invited Hae-in to lunch in Jeju, claiming he'd won plane tickets in a contest.
They were walking along the shore, and came to a table set up with a fancy meal (obviously arraigned by Ki-woong). Hae-in finds an engagement ring in the fish, and Ki-woong proposes for the one-hundredth time. Hae-in is alarmed at his obsession, and makes it clear that she only likes him as a friend. Ki-woong is so disappointed he jumps in the sea.

I remember when Haein set him up on a blind date which she attended, but it was so early on, I didn't see how all of this fit in.

Wouldn't it have been easier to pawn the ring and then have put the money in the collection box? It's kind of rude just to drop a ring in there. anybody could take it and pawn it themselves.

What about the people who drop the rare gold coins in the Salvation Army kettles every Christmas??? When you pawn something it leaves a paper trail... Don't ask me how I know... Sometimes giving something away is the best way to go.
