Here’s the subtitles from the segment that was edited out of episode #12 in Chicago (my thanks to Soju for pointing me to the right episode – else I’d never have found it):
He-young: You said you were a campus couple?
He-young: Is it alright for you to lie like that?
Jong-nam: She asked if we were a campus couple, so I told that we were.
He-young: You told her your parents are in the U.S., and you visit them during vacation?
Jong-nam: I wish.
He-young: Min-woo’s mom would be really upset if she found out the truth. Did you love Min-woo?
Jong-nam: It wasn’t love. I was just about to like him, but he left.
He-young: He’s a real jerk to his mom.
From there, they switch to a discussion about how much money Min-woo's mother might have. Jong-nam's offended by her friend's apparent, non-stop money-grubbing.
Okay, so what do we make of that? Was Min-woo a “jerk to his mom” for dying suddenly (kinda unfair . . .) or did he actually just “leave,” and cause his poor mother to think he’d died? Or is this just another case of garbled subtitles?
I am assuming Ginnycat was talking about a bit in the preview at the end of ep11 where He-young (Jong-nam's friend) says "Won't Min-woo's mother be mad when she finds out the truth?". But then this scene was cut out of ep 12.
Anyway, since we have well over one hundred eps to go (at least), I'm sure we'll see plenty of mysteries and secrets to come.
nara is sukhyun, rich boy's mother. Min-woo is the son of jae-ok, the woman that allowed jong-nam to stay with her.
The translations are hilarious Soju. It's like that with French and Spanish all the time. babelfish stinks, period. now i'm really doubting whether minwoo died. i think he did, but............................ you never know with these k dramas.
