I called KBC and was told that the KBS miniseries "Wedding" would be airing in the Wednesday & Thursday @ 8pm timeslot after "Love Lost in Time" ends. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask if it would be subtitled or not but I'm assuming it will be. "Wedding" was supposed to be 20 episodes but was cut down to 18 due to poor ratings. I love Myung Sae Bin (she's one of my favorite actresses) and Gong Hyun Joo is hot but I'm taking a pass on this one. KBS 웨딩 (Wedding) length : 18 episodes official site: www.kbs.co.kr/drama/wedding2005Cast: Ryu Shi Won, Jang Nara, Myung Sae Bin, Lee Hyun Woo, Choi Woo Jae, Tomo, Gong Hyun Joo, Kim Min Joo, Kang Suk Woo, Na Young Hee, Jung Young Sook Ryu Shi WonJang NaraLee Hyun WooMyung Sae BinGong Hyun JooDrama info/storyAn arranged marriage brings together Lee Se Na (Jang Nara), a house manager of a theater and daughter of rich parents, and Han Seung Woo (Ryu Shi Won), a self-made diplomat from a poor family. I hope this drama has subtitles! I really like Lee Hyun-woo. He was great in Attic Cat! Jang Nara....didn't she play in a drama with Yeon Jeong-hoon (Tae-young from YH)? And we saw Myung Sae-bin as Goeun in WML, right?

In the other thread knov says that the final 2 episodes will air this week. This drama should begin airing next week then. Woo-hoo, it does look good. It will be fun to see Goeun in a new role.

The minor characters seem to get married into their same class. Not enough time to fight two social battles I guess.

I must say that the reason I'm giving a try to this drama is because of Lee Hyun Woo, As for the drama will see but for now it does not interest me.

Yesterday was the final episode of Love Lost in Time (I watched the beginning just to make sure). Which means Wedding is coming on next week. It might've gotten poor ratings but it has to be way better then Love Lost in Time.

So tell me, does anyonw in Korea ever marry someone from their own class of people? Its always rich man poor man in every show. Yeah, just about every drama I've seen is that way. Yesterday was the final episode of Love Lost in Time (I watched the beginning just to make sure). Which means Wedding is coming on next week. It might've gotten poor ratings but it has to be way better then Love Lost in Time. You guys will probably like it but I thought "Wedding" was a big disappointment.

Disappointment? Wow, but this was one of the best shows I ever watched, along with Resurrection.
You guys seems to be worried about rich guy + poor girl formula, but this one is different. Although this does have a rich girl and a rather normal guy marrying each other, the focus is not about how the two from different socioeconomic status overcome everything that's in their way sheerly by the power of love, which is such a typical theme in Korean dramas. Rather, as you can tell from the fact that the two main characters meet at a blind date, this is not about the love of destiny. That is, in typical Korean dramas, once the two fall in love with each other, no external factors that are in their way can stop them from being together forever. But in this drama, the focus is on how the phychology of relationship plays out in the absence of any external factors (i.e. financial problems, parental objection, mean in-laws, a vilainess who tries to seperate the hero and heroine, car accident, amnesia, an incurable disease, etc. The writer nicely controls for all these things, making sure she carefully depicts only the phychological states that each character is in, not the external circumstances that get in the way). The whole thing revolves around the question "What do you think is the most important thing in a marriage?" Rather than simplistically saying 'Love' like in so many Korean dramas, this tries to go deeper and consider the answer to the question in a whole new different perspective. This got very good reviews in Korea, and for a good reason. This is a new, evolved form of Korean drama. And no, they didn't cut it down to 18 episodes because of low ratings. They originally planned it as 20 episodes, but they just adjusted it to 18. The ratings were actually picking up towards the end, and those people who watched it, including myself, loved it. So once again, if you're thinking about a cinderella story when you hear the word 'rich,' think again. You'll see what I mean when you watch this yourselves. Nothing like your ordinary Korean drama, this one.

This is a new, evolved form of Korean drama. Nothing like your ordinary Korean drama, this one. I disagree. This drama doesn't have anything that hasn't already been tried before. You have main couple and 3rd person who tries to come between them. Then, of course, a bunch of misunderstandings (all of which could easily be worked out if they simply sat down and talked) that threaten their marriage. How is that new or different from other K-Dramas? And no, they didn't cut it down to 18 episodes because of low ratings. They originally planned it as 20 episodes, but they just adjusted it to 18. The ratings were actually picking up towards the end, and those people who watched it, including myself, loved it. The ratings for episode 1 nationwide were 14.2. The ratings for the final episode nationwide were 13.9. The ratings for the episodes in between were in the 10-12 range. The highest rated episode for this drama was episode 1. The ratings did go up towards the end but not by much. That's not to say ratings are everything. They don't always tell the whole story. Just because a drama gets high ratings doesn't mean it's a great drama and just because a drama gets low ratings doesn't mean it's a bad drama. In the end, all that really matters is whether you enjoyed the drama or not.

As I've said, this one is not about the love between the two main characters and how they overcome all the obstacles such as I've listed above with their love. Rather, it's about how a husband and wife adjust to each other, how they deal with the shock they experience when they get married for the first time. In fact, the guy doesn't even love the girl, but marries her nevertheless. (which is a blesphemy in Korean dramas) There's no misunderstandings in this drama. Each character soon finds out whatever's hidden from them, but it's their feelings about that 'secret' that they have trouble with (thus the psychology), not the very fact that it's a secret and that they don't know about it, causing misunderstandings. Nor is there a third party who tries to get in the way of the main characters. Yunsu, yes, it may seem like she is in the way, but she never does anything deliberately. Again, it's the leftover feelings of Yunsu and Seungwoo toward each other that causes the problem, not Yunsu's attempt at trying to seperate Seungwoo and Sena. (again, think of external factors vs psychology) Maybe you didn't watch the drama all that carefully, paying attention to the details and analyzing it. (not that you should) If you did, you would've seen clearly how the inner dynamics of this drama is completely different from other Korean dramas.
Yes, so it started out with high ratings, but fell because of good competitors like Secret Lovers (which I also enjoyed very much) and Seodongyo, although these shows didn't get high ratings themselves. It was not a lopsided win for any of them. So the ratings were at 10% area during the entire show, but episode 16 got 14.1% and stayed at 14-nish ratings till the end. In any case, I didn't say the ratings were high. I only said that they didn't cut this down to 18 episodes because of low ratings. I followed all the news articles about the show and frequented the drama website, but never heard about ending it prematurely because of low ratings. If you saw a news article that say this was cut to 18 episodes because of low ratings, can you please live me a link to it? If you cut this down because of low ratings, what should you do have done with Secret Lovers, or even better (or worse), Autumn Shower, which set the record lowest viewer ratings in five years?
Anyway, I don't agree with you either. I agree that this drama may not be the cup of tea for everyone, but I can lay down my name and say this is very different from typical Korean melodramas.
