I was shocked when KJ's mother slapped IY in the face when KJ was in surgery after having an accident. KJ goes to IY's apartment, apparently drunk, then leaves. IY gets a call that KJ is in the hospital. She calls his mean, controlling mother to tell her about KJ. She actually had the nerve to blame IY for the KJ's drinking and accident.
Poor IY has had nothing but grief with KJ and his mother. Now, with his accident, IY will be have to give up recovery from this most dysfunctional family. IY has done nothing to deserve this. I'm just hoping that Hee-joo will walk into this family thinking that she can make a difference.

in young should have decked her Decked her, stuffed her, rolled her in oats and fried her in tons of bacon fat. What else is IY going to be blamed for. Oh wait? How about evil SM's hairdo. Or the lack thereof. Oh! Jae-min, take IY away!!!!!!!!! She's about to crack, like an egg in a frying pan. Man I must be hungry to compare IY's grief with food. Oh! well, frosted flakes here I come. LOL

That slap in the face was more like a slap upside the head. I mean the beotch was able to move all IY hair to the other side of her head. And I definitely heard a thump, I think IY must have had a really bad head ache after that, like when you bump your head on something.

I knew that slap was coming because of the preview-spoilers, but I was shocked to find out that Screech Mom slapped In-young just because In-young was standing there. I thought SM slapped IY after IY said something like, "It was my fault because I told him this and that." But SM didn't wait for IY to say a word. SM just slapped IY (and I agree that it was more of a slap upside the head than to the face) and said, "It's all your fault!"

She is horrible, horrible, horrible. She deserves some sort of comeuppance for everything she's done. Like if IY and KJ get back together and have a baby, and they never let her see the baby. HA!

Doesn't anyone ever get arrested on these dramas? They do outrageous things and get away with it. I bet if In-young did deck the b****, SHE would get arrested. Whew, SM acts like a toddler sometimes, lashing out physically and verbally. Picture her lying on the floor, kicking and screaming, "But I want a grandchild noowwww!"and "I was SO worried about KJ, my head is going to explode, oh, there you are, thorn in my side, wham!"

I missed tonight's episode, but will tape the re-run Monday morning here in Chicago.
In-young did absolutely nothing to deserve that slap in the face. Her evil MIL has done everything possible to make IY responsible for that family's unhappiness. It's very clear that IY still loves KJ very much, even trying to keep in contact with him on a business level. This slap should put her in the arms of Jae-min who can truly love her as an individual, not as a baby factory who will produce children for KJ's mother.
IY is a kind, lovable person who must rid herself of KJ. I think she has great potential with Jae-min who needs a loving woman for a wife and a loving step-mom for his child.

Did everybody catch the article about a different KBS series where the daughter-in-law acually DID slap her mother-in-law? It caused an enormous uproar in Korea! times.hankooki.com/lpage/culture/200508/kt2005081219323011700.htm

I guess in any culture, if you think about it, hitting an elder really is something. I mean if I hit my MIL, how would I feel if my sister-in-law was to hit my mother. It would bring on a war. As for the evil SM, it may seem justifiable that IY smack her a good one; but still it might make some people a little shocked. Perhaps that's why she had to leave KJ, so she wouldn't do something as regrettable as slapping her MIL because of all her abuse. People can take only so much before they go over the edge, and I guess IY was coming to that point; if she hasn't already. Though I don't think evil SM will ever see the true meaning of sacrifice IY is doing for her son. Here she loves her husband so much that she would take herself out of the equation just to keep the bond between mother and son from ever crumbling. Her love is strong, but a mother's love is infinite. Such as it is?

Thanks, Mikey! That was astounding-after watching for a long time, the characters and situations seem more and more familiar, then something like this article reminds me that some things really are different there. Imagine how much apologizing there would be here if there were standards enforced here, suddenly.

Well, the pants-dropping guys should have been punished because they're on television, for pity's sake, and it's a family show. (Not like they were on Cinemax or something, lol.) However, to punish a show because "it failed to respect the values of family and community and violated broadcasting ethics" when they show people being slapped all the time? Especially since they were trying to bring such bad values to light? That's just blindness.

I guess elders have immunity-they have the power to vent/discipline/whatever, and it's one-sided, the young have to bow their heads, endure and apologize. I remember the young girl (name?) on One Million Roses being shaken and hit repeatedly by the grandmother over something her father did 20 years ago. It's so shocking to me, I wonder if people really do that, or is it dramatic license? Altho, with the tv reaction, it seems to be acceptable violence. It's so humiliating, and in In-young's case, a painful clout rather than "just" a slap-how can they keep from striking back? I was wishing IY would have a black eye so SM's violence would show.
