K-Joon's mother is something else! She gets drunk and decides that "She" is going to fix things. She orders her brother-in-law(?) to go get K-Joon and then she calls In-Young on the telephone, ordering her to come to the house at 3 pm. I'm amazed that In-Young didn't tell her where to go and simply hung up. This woman is a master puppeteer, pulling everyone everywhere. Why don't they all tell her to bug off?

I really don't understand why In-young gives that woman the time of day, they broke up! Move on! On a side note, Ki-joon looks like a zombie out of Michael Jackson's Thriller music video. That family is waaaaaaaay to melodramatic. They need a hobby (besides crying and torturing poor In-young).

i don't understand why women are always portrayed to be lacking in spirit and everything else. They can never stand up to people and that bugs me. I wish for once that they would show a korean girl with sooooo much spunk. That is the main character. I mean they were doing good with Mi-jung. But then the writers dwindled her character's strength to weakness.

Hey, the men on these shows are spineless too! Unless they're shiftless bums, of course.

I just can't believe Ki-joon's mother. Now she's getting drunk at night so as to elicit sympathy from her family. I mean, this "poor widow, this poor mother" should receive respect from those who have come under her hateful controlling ways.
I really feel sorry for Ki-joon who will have to bring In-young home if he marries her. In-young's Aunt was right when she said that In-young will be going to a "slaughter-house". Her MIL and Hee-joo will connive to make her life miserable.
The only hope for Ki-joon and In-young is to move far, far away, though her family is normal which will probably break her heart.

Girls usually move in with their in-laws. but, can't in-young just say she wants to move out? or is she too nice for that?

If IY and KJ are going to get married, they shouldn't stay in his house after they are married. I know it's a traditional custom that the daughter-in-law is to live with her husband's family and take care of the parent-in-law. But knowing how badly Ok-jin treats In-young, I hope In-young and Ki-jun get a place of their own.

yeah...okjin will just turn sweet in-young into a replica of ok-soon was it? but... guys.... there was this weird thing that in-young's father said. he said that the two families of in-young and ki-joon have known eachother for 3 generations... could there be some sort of secret story behind their relationship just like in MPC?

Yes, bae, I'm getting that feeling, too. In other shows, for example, "On the Green Prairie," when the objection to a child's choice of spouse was so violent, there was a dirty secret in the background. It seems especially likely when the two families have a long history together. But on the other hand, Screechy Mom hasn't dropped any hints, as in monologues, about there being any reason except the fact that In-young isn't rich enough.

yeah...that's true lucy. But, when in-young's dad mentioned the whole 3 generation thing, ok-jin seemed a little uncomfortable. Maybe she was just in her usual... don't talk about the past kinda mood.

Ok-jin did say something like "Every family has some skeletons in the closet". And we already know that In-kyung is only a half sister to In-young. Ok-jin is sure mean enough to use that fact as ammunition against the marriage.
But I'll bet she's hiding a skeleton, too. How did her husband make the money she now enjoys. We haven't really been told anything about Ki-joon's Father so far.

yeah i do remember her saying something like that. i am kinda shaky on the whole ki-joon's father issue. I mean, i don't think he was a mob boss like that father-in-law in "LOST." LOL couldn't help making a comparison.

The best line is Screeching Mama's ...."I can't think ... I get a headache...." geez ...she's even admitting she can't think.... good thing her bro-in-law is taking care of business and Ki joon is heading up the health club ... SM is just the lucky recipient of a rich husband and has no class at all ... she is just so obvious and hateful ... do you think she can have a complete turn around like grandma in OMR? Ki joon needs to get a shot of calcium for his lack of backbone .. he needs to be able to stand in front of In young to save her from his EVIL SM ..

She is so tacky! Asking for all these gifts for the engaement ceremony. Geez! It's like don't you have your own money? She should be glad Inyoung was willing to marry her loser son after the treatment she received from her.

She should be glad Inyoung was willing to marry her loser son after the treatment she received from her. this strikes me as hilarious. i think it's the "loser son" part. thanks for the laugh. It's hard to believe she still continues to treat IY that way. Here's the nice girl sidling sweetly into her house and being respectful despite all the screaming and throwing of desk objects, etc., and yet somehow Mom still acts like her presence is the most insufferable and annoying thing on earth. I wish In-young would marry him, move in, and suddenly start to act very sinister and threatening only when she's alone with her MIL, as if she is going to poison Mom or something. Not that she'd really do it, but that she'd scare the bejeebers out of her and get her in line once and for all. "Y-y-y-yes, daughter-in-law! Your fermented soybean paste soup is delicious. Look, I'm eating it, num num num. Don't hurt me!"
