Grand Aunt was using the stairs up to the 4th floor the day she came home from surgery. And she still appeared to be quite sore! I know they traditionally don't use the elevator to save money (and maybe for health reasons). But notice, she was up at the 4th floor visiting.
So my question is why didn't she use the elevator the day she came home from the hospital?
Do you think she was using the stairs just out of habit?
Because she's also very frugal?
To score sympathy points? (maybe she'll have a "problem" later on and claim it was b/c of climbing all those stairs).
I think it was habit, Catalpa. I laughed the other day when I saw the episode where Grandma rushed home to Joon after she remembered he was alone, when they went to the hospital with 3d-floor grandma. Anyway, here she is, rushing to the child's rescue, and she runs up FOUR FLIGHTS of stairs, instead of taking the elevator that was probably on the first floor because nobody takes it! They're all conditioned to use the stairs, by frugality, as you say, and also, it's healthier (at least, that was Grandpa's message to Jiyeun when she moved in!).
From Dae Jang-geum: Sun-dol: "Are you trying to dry me up and kill me? Why do you say the same things over and over every day? Rather, come and hit me once! Aigu!" But then: Dr. Lazarus: "By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Warvan... You shall be avenged."
they've got an elevator? guess i forgot about that since they never seem to use it. gotta say that i love that apartment building villa. its so nice. anybody know how long she was at the hospital? maybe she's healed enough during her stay at the hospital that there's no need to use the elevator?
