Can anyone help me understand what it was that Grandma was telling Goeun about the way she should address Sang-sik in front of the elders? There was one of those small above-the-subtitles glosses about something Grandma was chastising Goeun about.
By the way, were everyone's subtitles messed up on Saturday's episode? (#24?) It looked like a problem with the digital feed or whatever you call it, and I almost called the station, but I remembered how unresponsive they are and didn't bother.

Haven't seen my saturday tape yet, so I can't say. I will pause it to see what the explanation in the parenthesis says.
Is anybody else having trouble posting today? I keep getting a white screen and making double posts.

Yes, I am having that problem, too. To avoid double posts, I just use the "back" button and click back to the thread I just posted on to check it. Each time, my new post has been there.

Wow, Lucy, that's a good idea. I've had to delete my own triple posts and one of Soju's, LOL.
I assume Grandma wants Goeun to call Sang-sik some variation of brother-in-law. I can't remember them; I suppose I'll have to visit Korean.wiz again. I have not yet seen that episode yet, either, maybe others will see it and explain.

Yup, same problem with me too Lucy, I just bared with it and made out what I could, I hope the re-airing of it won't have the same problem.

I haven't exactly determined the reairing time. I think it's 9:30-10:30, or 9:00-10:00, or ? I thought it was immediately after M-S, but I've come upon that at 8:30 a.m. and later. I'd just put a new tape in and tape from 8:30 to 11, if it were me. Bo

Thanks, "TheBo." I will set it up from 8:30 to about 11. I thought I had read here about one of the nighttime dramas being repeated around 1 in the afternoon and was worried it was this one. ta-ta, Lucy

Well, I watched it this morning and it's the same thing, the bottom where the subtitle's at were still messed up, but I found them more legible this time.

I have so much going on, I forgot to tape this morning after all! If you work at it you can decipher the "dripping" subtitles, but you have to have it on tape. I hope that problem doesn't recur.

How nice was the scene when Jieun enters her apartment and it is filled with flowers and then he presents her with his mother's ring? I thought that was so sweet, by the end they were both in tears.

Oh, I know, it was so sweet the way he went into the apartment first to check and then came out smiling like a mischievous boy and beckoned her in. So many different flowers! It was obvious he bought out a whole shop, whatever was in it at the time. Geesh, I can't believe how awful Hanna is being. What is her problem? She coerces Ji-yeun into letting her come along on their "scooping the rice" trip? Acts typically idiotic on the trip? (I like her, but not at the moment.) And then gets all bitter and complaining when JY gets engaged? She's really ruining Ji-yeun's happy moments here. Not a very good friend right now.

I think grand ma wants gouen to talk down to sangsik, after all she is hs older sister-in-law REMBER last week when yoonsik called her "GOUEN" instead of "GAE-SOO" which means younger sister-in-law or wife of younger brother.

Yeh, toranaga, thank you. Could you tell us, please, what the word is for "younger brother-in-law"?

Yes, Grandma wants her to use the formal address instead of using the name of the person. I think GR is starting to like her and sees she is trying so hard to please. This is a very loving family even if the elders - mostly the female elders - want to keep to the "old ways". Old grandpa and young grandpa are fairly liberal in their views of family ... elder grandpa more so than his son Hee sup .... this is one of my favorite dramas and I am glad they are reairing it .. I missed a lot of episodes the first time around.
