Did we really skip an episode last weekend 5/14? (I think we were supposed to be on 21 and 22). Or have I officially missed one episode? No one has said whether KBC was on the air Saturday night, but all I got on my tape was snow.

That's weird, I was able to watch the show last Saturday too...they played Friday's episode (21) that day since the tower was still down, today they played last Saturday's episode (22).

can anyone tell me what happened on today's epsiode? (may 20, 2005) i missed it. help anyone? Just doing this off the top of my head, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to leave out a lot of things, sorry about that, this is just what I remember. Ji-yeon and Yoon-shik talks on the phone and decides to do things that they saw couples would do together when they were each single. Hyun-shik and Sang-shik talks about the whole Goeun situation. Sang-shik tells him to just give him time and someday he'll probably be able to accept Goeun. Sang-shik is awaken by the baby and is rebuked by Grandfather for acting like a baby himself, tries to go back to sleep but Hanna keeps calling him so he goes upstairs to (of course) yell at her, she tells him to relax while she gives him a massage. After the massage he pretends to sleep just so she would leave him alone. She decides to go about her day while he sleeps. She takes a bath and Sang-shik walks in to use the toilet, they both see each other and take turns screaming like girls (Sang-shik sounding more like the girl in this scene), he runs out of the bathroom just as Yoon-shik and Ji-yeon return from their date. Hanna is yelling at Sang-shik saying that he should've knocked and Sang-shik yells back saying she should've locked the door, both saying that it's not their faults. This scene was weird to me but while Yoon-shik was out with Ji-yeon, they showed his two co-workers (the couple), they were having some romantic time together, they were leaning in to kiss each other, then it quickly cuts to Mr. Cha and Kyung-hwa making out in the car, then finally to the cafe where Khyung-hwa's younger sister Kyung-joo keeps eyeing a customer. I guess she's in need of some lovin'. Grandpa and the elderlies (sp?) are a bit worried of Goeun being upset that she's not able to support her parents and also, Grandpa's worried about his son because he hasn't called from his "business trip" yet. Well, that's it, that's all I can think of, I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember, anyways, hope this helped. Oh and also, it's not in this particular order either.

And hopefully you'll get to actually watch it yourself since it seems like the same episode is on today. What on earth is with that?

What time do they rebroadcast this show. I starting watching today (Sat) and thought they were reshowing the Fri show. Switch to PBS and when I checked KBC they were showing ESP #23, so I missed the start. They must have caught the error at commercial and switched to the right ESP.

I came home Saturday night and put on my tape, saw that it was the same episode as Friday, and stopped watching. So evidently I screwed it up, thanks to KBC. [Caution: Rant ahead.] I am sick of their shenanigans. Instead of just dropping in on this board and posting things they want us to do for them, or feedback they need, why don't they co-sponsor this board and follow our comments. They would find out that every dumb decision they make affects us, and that we notice everything. Anyone can have transmitter troubles, but what kind of a TV station starts its shows at unpredictable times and doesn't even have the right episode queued up? I wonder what my chances are of getting episode 23 on tape tomorrow.

I have noticed that all the non-Korean programming on the weekends starts like clockwork.

Oooh Lucy---- Don't be so quick to junk that tape from Saturday night. KBC started to re-air Friday's program and then after about 10 minutes began the correct show---the next episode. I was confused for a minute, but kept on browsing through my tape just in case I made a mistake. There was no fanfare on KBC's part--just their logo and the new episode. I'm getting pretty frustrated at the lack of new programming an inconsistent subtitling too. Darinka P.S.-did you guys miss me? I've not posted to the boards in ages. It has been a wild & woolly spring with lots of upheaval in family caretaking and health responsibilities. Only occasionally have I even had time to skim the general section. I've missed you though and thought about you guys tons

Hi, buddhacat! Welcome back to you! Thank you for your comment. Yep, I heard about the oopsie moment on Saturday and am hoping that I can catch it tomorrow morning. I'm enjoying the happy-happy storyline of Ji-yeun and Yoon-sik, and I'm hoping we will soon see more of the Kyung-hwa (is that her name? I'm just guessing now) and Mr. Cha story. Glad you're back! I'm sorry your life has been in upheaval. I hope everything is on an even keel now. Lucy

Oh Lucy---thanks for the nice words!!!! I'm glad to be back and posting a bit more.
This is a great series isn't it? I love the personalities and the way that the loving relationships unfold. I especially like the subtext of Grandma and Grandpa's relationship---ooh, la la
Last time I picked up the series somewhere in the middle so it is cool to see how everything developed, now that I have gotten a chance to see it from the beginning.....and I keep chuckling when I remember the last episode (No, no spoilers from me!)
Cheers,

Well, I saw Saturday's episode, and I see a lot happened. Especially at the end, when Younger Grandma found out that Mr. Cha is really "that bastard." It seemed from her reaction, though, that she was only pretending to know and wasn't sure until her brother admitted it. Wow! From the teaser, you can see that her hair is mussed up in the next episode. That's a big thing for Auntie Helmet-Hair!
Her singing is very nice, in an old-ladyish way. I wonder how much of that is due to a Korean style. Anyway, you can see that the actress has a trained voice.
How about Yoon-sik mauling Ji-yeun's hand (which was actually kind of cute--oh, those intense feelings when you first start dating someone) and then jumping up because he was having "dir-dir-dirty thoughts"! That's a big "yucko" from me. Too much information. Lucky that she thinks it's funny! But probably what he thinks is a "dirty" thought is "I want to kiss her." Dragging that word "dirty" into it, though, makes my heart sink. What an attitude.
And finally, what a jerk that Sang-sik is, and what a great, endless tongue-lashing Hanna gave him! ;D One good thing about her is that she's quick to forgive. Was it in this episode or the previous one where she's really very mad at him, and Ji-yeun asks her, "So he's not cute anymore?" And Hanna breaks down and giggles, "No, he's still cute!"

I think the singing is a Korean classical style, you see it a lot on those singing contests, especially by middle-aged women. I wonder if the term "dirty" is an "off" translation. I notice, now that this is my second viewing, that Michael's translations were not quite as elegant on this show as they became later. He gives us huge chunks of cultural info, which I love, but sometimes the english is a little garbled. I look at that as a, what do they say, "added bonus"? Amusement factor, you know. Further, as we have noted previously, the dialogue is rapid-fire and probably hard to keep up with when translating on the fly. Bo

It was funny when he was bowing to the air and asking forgiveness from his father. Hana would probably forgive Sangsik for almost anything if he asked nicely. That's good though, that she doesn't hold grudges, I think she's too lighthearted to be that way.
