Sorry to break into the love fest ;D, but I'm going to reply to Bo's comments. First of all, Bo, you reminded me of my sister.... "Missy poo?" Yup, sounds like something she'd say! It sounds like you're asking if an animal named Missy...pooped. ( ;D) No, really, if that's the worst you can do, my sister has you beat, by far! LOL I don't have any recommendations because my husband bought the books and workbooks for our children while he was in Korea and they are written in....Korean! S, I wouldn't know which one to recommend. Although, I might still have an extra set of children's education videos you can have. DH bought a set on one trip to Korea and bought the same set on his next trip. Granted, he buys so much stuff when he goes, it's hard to keep track, but still... Anyway, if you'd like them, let me know - we certainly have enough videos without needing duplicates! (It's a set of two). I don't remember if this one is about numbers or Korean things (airplanes, etc.), but it's interesting and entertaining. Melissa

To carry out this delusional train of thought further, Lucy will have to look for someone named Lukie. Poor galacticchick, though. Maybe gal-ck will find someone from Eastern Europe, so he could have a name like Galczic (just made that up) or something. I have the feeling that moreshige is not his Korean name; it looks more Japanese to me. . . . But what do I know? I am an ignorant caucasian.

...I have the feeling that moreshige is not his Korean name; it looks more Japanese to me.... Oh, no, I'm sorry. I'm pretty sure it is Japanese, I did not mean I thought he was Korean but that I don't trust my eyes when it comes to pronunciation of foreign (to me) names. Take, for instance, this Galczik fellow... Bo

This is what made me think you thought "moreshige" was a Korean name. My guess is that if it's Japanese, it's pronounced the way it looks, as usual. Hey, is Bo your given name? It's pretty cool. Or maybe it's short for something, like Rainbow?

ok great, my screen name is the subject of conversation, huh? Let me explain. It does look Japanese, huh? Never thought about it like that. It's pronounced "Mo-re-Shi-ge" "Mo-re" means "sand" "Shi-ge" means "clock or timepiece" hence, moreshige literally means " sand clock" which is further translated to "hourglass" in English. As I have mentioned in other threads, "Moreshige" is the greatest korean drama ever made, IMO. But you guys probably don't know about it because it came out in 1992. It runs like an epic novel, a true drama. And no, it's not my real-life name. lol But hey, I might just as well find a "maureen-shige" one day. haha

This could get to be like one of those Rumpelstiltskin games! I'm laughing because your pronunciation guide looks just like the word itself. "Mo-re-Shi-ge"--hah, hah, hah. You should write dictionaries for a living. Hee, hee. Is it, "mow-ray-SHEE-gay" or "moo-REH-sh-gah", for instance. Oh, I have to leave now. Oh, hah, hah, hah... Bo

I was in Korea for 3 years at the time and saw it there (92-94) so I guess I must have seen it around then. But I know for certain it didn't come out in 95. Hmmm maybe, you're talking about when it came out in the US?

"Jot ta" means "is nice" or " like". So "Ha-bud-du jot ta" means "I like Harvard" or "Harvard's nice!" Sorry to drag this from page 1, but this is hilarious! I have to use it in my signature now.

Hmmm maybe, you're talking about when it came out in the US? Hmm.. well I didn't get into Korean dramas until late 96/early 97 so I'm not sure when Moreshige drama came out here. A friend recommended it to me (in 97) and told me it was from early 95 and that I'd like it. SBS also has it dated as airing in 95.
