Yeah, this episode was pretty funny, I love how everybody who were against the marriage suddenly changed their votes, except of course for Grand Aunt, who's really getting on my nerves now. Great Episode!

This episode really made me laugh. The scene outside the flower shop, when Sangsik was pretending he was shocked--SHOCKED! -- at the news about Goeun and Hyun-sik was funny, but then the vote, with Yoonsik making that circle motion and rolling his eyes at Younger Aunt, made me laugh out loud. That guy so is funny/cute like that. I also liked when the girls downstairs were so outraged about the vote, and Ji-eun says, "Who says the world is fair??" Yoon-sik's "I didn't say it!" was so funny.

I wonder what's going to happen when the family members find out she has a baby, or if they will even find out. I assume that Goeun's pretending she doesn't love him though she really does. However, I think she would not be very happy if her baby was taken away, especially since she's doing everything in her power to stop it. So, her dad and Hyunsik won't win anything by calling the baby's father. So it either seems like Hyunsik tells his family and they go crazy (would they let him bring her anyway?) or the baby is raised by Goeun's parents, or Goeun and Hyunsik stay apart.
Oh well, this relationship is the least interesting to me right now because of all the other fun going on.

No kidding! And they're also going through all of the whiny nonsense about how they don't love each other but really they do, it was a misunderstanding, who should apologize to whom, blah blah.
I guess if they didn't, though, we'd be talking about how sappy everyone else's relationships were and complaining.

Man, I can't believe you guys are being so cold to poor Go-eun and Hyun-sik. They're both very sweet and silly and proud. I think the reason the family is so shocked by this is that it's "not like" Hyun-sik--he seems to be knocking everyone for a loop. They keep talking about how "cold" he is...his father can't seem to process the idea that Hyun-sik really thinks this is the only one for him. (It seems, since he did not remarry, that Dad felt that way about his wife, and now he is witnessing it in his least-likely son. On the other hand, in other ways, Hyun-sik resembles him the most, so what's he so surprised about?) I believe Hyun-sik, once he got over the hurt to his pride that she dumped him, realized how cruel he'd been to her and resolved never to let a chance like that get away from him again, if he could help it. I think their story is romantic and touching.
I was watching this scene this morning before work* and laughing like a loon. I think when HS refused to defend himself, it was very effective--it sure made me cry. I loved all the excuses people came up with to be "on his side"--I think, particularly, Kwang-hwa (elder aunt) was giving them a "load" when she said she felt sorry for him. Maybe she's rethinking her position on Cha.
I hope you all are enjoying this drama. I'm just having the greatest time watching it.

*I could not figure out why I was so behind you all, and then I realized I had accidentally put the next YSS tape ahead of two weeks of WML. Oops.

I think their story is romantic and touching. I just have a different take on things. Maybe you have a different understanding because you've seen the series before, Bo. I understand what they've been through and what part Hyun-sik played in their breaking up in the first place, but I just don't see sweetness or silliness at all. The pride, definitely. What they've shown so far is poker-facedness and gloominess, which is hard to like. And he's trying to talk her into something she really doesn't want to do. Yes, I think that under ideal circumstances she would be with him because she loves him, but I believe her when she says she won't do it if she has to lose her son and that he's torturing her by pursuing her. The only glimpse of actual romance was when they embraced passionately in the subway. Everything else has been crying and renunciation. Plus, I definitely don't get that the family's problem with the situation is that they just don't see how much HS wants and needs to be with her; what I see is their objections to her as a daughter-in-law. According to their standards, she's just not good enough anymore (wait'll they find out about the kid), but they're doing what they can to tolerate the idea of her for his sake. That voting scene and the scenes leading up to it were so funny. I'm glad you found your taped episodes! Lucy

Yes, I agree that the family feel their standards have been violated, but I think they are equally stumped by his behavior. He is the most rigid of the three boys. Did you see those scenes with his coworkers, where he complained that the unit "below" theirs was not respectful enough? And look at how he approaches Go-eun, forcing her to talk with him, dragging her child to the doctor and ordering her not to tutor because she's so "delicate"? The only thing that makes it tolerable is that she's just as stubborn and rigid as he is. Their relationship parallels that of Cha and Kyung-hwa, two bull-headed people who haven't figured out how to be together yet, but if they do, it'll be something to see. Bo

I hadn't seen the parallel in that sense. I think the Cha/Dentist relationship is very interesting because there's some humor in her reactions; it's fascinating to watch her be all prickly toward him and still want to go on dates with him. She's got to figure out what she really wants and that in order to have him, she has to put the past aside. But Go-eun and HS depress me, because they just seem so sad and desolate. Her parents are totally depressing. Laugh, Clown! Laugh! I demand to be entertained! Hyun-sik, can't you be more like your brother Yoon-sik? Try to bumble a bit, why don't you? And Go-eun, you embarrass yourself once in a while and the audience will like you more! L.
