I don't remember Jieun being so crazy, but her character is certainly something. She's always blaming her faults on other people. I feel sorry for poor Yoonsik who had to be with her during her drunken tantrums.
I also feel so sorry for poor Hyunsik (sp?). He never stopped loving Goeun. Although how he ever won her over in the first place I don't know since he doesn't seem to affectionate. I do understand his father's POV though, she left him to be with somebody else the first time he trusted her.
When I saw that hug between Dentist Aunt and Cha I ca only imagine how passionate their relationship must have once been.

I think she's really cute, but it's a little hard to watch her talk because she kind of does a Bill Murray thing with her lower lip--it juts out and down when she talks. I think it could be improved if she used less lipstick in that area to compensate.

And, I like her shoes. Bo LOL! I'm trying to get the ball rolling on discussions here. I don't know why were not getting more posts. There are some interesting situations going one which no one is commenting on, like Cha and Dentist, Yoonsik and Jieun, little Grandpa.

LOL! I'm trying to get the ball rolling on discussions here. I think everyone is just trying to get a grip on who all the people are right now, so their heads are spinning, LOL. I noticed the same thing when DJG began. I agree--I find the situation with Cha and Kyung-joo, in particular, extremely interesting. They really are going into particulars with those two, and it's romantic and touching and sweet. Also, younger grandpa seems like a pretty sympathetic character, does he not? He has his own brand of pride and good intentions. It's not so hard to see why he gets away with it, he's sort of like Sang-sik, the precious youngest grandson--they should take a lesson about how well it works out to spoil the youngest. Bo

About Cha and Dentist Auntie, he freaks me out a bit. I can't stand presumptuous, feely men. But luckily she is doing a good job of fending him off with comments like, "Stop touching me, you're being creepy." ;D Just shows you how creepy he is that his rejoinder was, "Creepy feeling shows that you are still a woman." Shut up, you freak, and give her a little room. Quit acting like she's your instant girlfriend just because you want her to be. I get the sense that this guy just wants her to get up to speed, for heaven's sake, because he feels time's a-wastin'. He's not giving any thought to the fact that she has her own life and her own needs; he just assumes he knows what she wants. Of course he's not all bad and they're going to end up together (a prediction, not a spoiler, as I haven't seen this drama before), but he should quit acting like such a stalker. Woo her, buddy, don't overwhelm her!
I guess I haven't really liked the other characters this guy has played in other dramas; he's always playing a fairly macho, emotionally distant, not-quite-good-enough husband. So that may be affecting my judgment.
I think there is a lot of funny stuff in this drama, and I'm enjoying the ensemble work. There are a lot of characters to keep track of. I could do without the two moms. And I see that the Go-eun/handsome brother plot is probably going to shape up to be the main one, but that's too bad, because I haven't found much to like about him or, consequently, to care about in their story.

Your post me laugh so much, Lucy. You've read my mind and saved my fingers the trouble of typing. With regards to Cha, I think it's the hair. The hair is like 15% of his personality. I remember he was supposed to play a really poor guy on To Be With You (I never saw the thing, I would occassionally tune in to see if I had changed my mind, but I never did) but his character was so unbeliavable because even though he was wearing what looked like ragged capris and a shirt, he still always had his perfect hair. I hated this character in OMR. So passive when he needed to be agressive and vice-versa. Actually he played the same kind of character in STIL so I guess you are right, he does have a tendency to do always play those type of characters. Handsome brother....*drools* I like him because he is just so good to the eyes. I don't know, I kind of like his 70 year old man trapped in a young 30 year old's body. I'm not taping over that shower scene. (BTW, was that some low water pressure or what?)

Whooo! I never saw these episodes, and I just today took them off the tape machine, so I don't yet know about all that stuff you said Lucy (but lord it was hilarious and probably right on point), I'm only going by the first few scenes which seemed sweet to me. Cha is being played by a pretty limited actor, but I see him as sort of like, oh, Gary Cooper and John Wayne are the only ones who come to mind. (I'm going blank on anyone more modern.) He just plays himself. And, yah, Gal-ck, the hair is a stumper. But all the men on these dramas have glam-rocker hair--poufy, blown dry, never moves an inch--so I forgave him.
And, GC, shower scene? Oh boy. Get out the popcorn, girls. PARTAY TIME!

Unbelievable! I, who am so hungry for eye-candy men, didn't particularly notice the shower scene. At first I didn't know what gal-ck was talking about. Now I remember. He is pretty darn cute, though I still like Jin-kook (from MPC) better and wish he would get a little sweaty and hop in the shower likewise before the series ends. About Mr. Cha's hair--you said it, sisters! That pouffiness is SO Wayne Newton! When he was on "On the Green Prairie," though, the first thing I noticed was its unnatural blackness, and then, second, the blow-dry. Ugh. If he ever sees fit to change it, I will say, "Dankeschoen, Mr. Cha!" Speaking of bad hair, I've seen that grandpa in non-subtitled dramas (I don't know how you clever people understand them without subtitles), and WHY oh why does he part it in the middle? This isn't 1880s Kansas, grandpa. Try a side part. I don't find the youngest son that annoying, but his bad table manners have GOT to go! I'm sure that Ha-na will get on his case about it and get him under control. I will reiterate how much fun it is that Quilting Auntie is played by the actress who did such a good, evil job with Lady Choi in "DJG" and Rainbow Aunt in "OMR." The character is such a pleasant, sweet thing. It's hard to believe it's the same woman. Even in the real-life DJG reunion/celebration special that KBC showed, she seemed like a kind of sassy lady, judging by her facial expressions and body language (she didn't say much). Anyway, I hope her character finds someone to fall in love with, too. She's too pretty to end up on the shelf. (Not that only pretty people deserve love in real life, but in a TV show you expect everyone who's viable to find a partner.)

Geez - everybody dissin' Han Jin-hee (or at least his hair).
I wrote to Korean Wiz during the first airing of this show about how Han Jin-hee always played such serious characters, and Wiz replied "Wait for the scene of Mr. Chan the Silk Merchant". And, boy, was she right!
It's not for quite a while yet, but it's. . .different.

About Cha and Dentist Auntie, he freaks me out a bit... Yes, he's being a little creepy, but she's putting him in his place. I like that he's not presented as this perfect guy, who makes all the right moves and says all the right things. Guys are just stupid sometimes, in their efforts to be smooth or romantic. It gives us a chance to see that Kyung-joo has a mind of her own. In fact, she can probably trace that feistiness to her mother. That's one good thing she got from the woman, at least. They also seem to have a history of this kind of banter. She really seems to care about him, but she's being careful, as she should be. The only really creepy thing to me is that he's enlisted her uncle to spy on her. What is that idiot doing, giving away her phone number and office location? It makes Cha look like a stalker. I suppose the uncle thinks he's helping smooth the way of true love. Bo
