I finally got to watch the first 7.5 minutes of episode 1, and what a beginning! Rat-a-tat-tat! They established the personalities and hopes and desires of Jieun, Hana and their respective mothers in just that short a time! I was so excited I jumped up in my chair! Yah! Yah! It's true! I may have to take nitroglycerin every few minutes!
Seriously, what an excellent beginning. I think Gal-ck is right; you probably should tape the episodes so you can stop and read the subtitles again if necessary. Michael was really trying with this one to give us as much cultural information as possible. (Another tip--occasionally, a subtitle disappears as soon as it is put up; many times, that is because it just showed too early and it will show again under the next portion of dialogue.)

... hey and during those 7-1/2 minutes I came so close to turning off the TV because I thought they were all nuts. You've put a fine spin on it for me and I thank you TheBo

I've watched the program before, but not from the beginning and I was amazed at how fast paced and informational it has been early on. This is going to be fun!!! I'm going to finally get on the web site and get the names of the characters so I can start gabbing!

...I'm going to finally get on the web site and get the names of the characters so I can start gabbing! Notice all the exclamation points in this thread! Great! We're all excited! BD, you can get the names at www.koreanwiz.org/at/drama-mylove.htmlI was planning to do a little character sketch thread to help everyone follow along--hopefully, over the weekend, although I'm kind of in the doghouse with BmB, so I want to pay some extra attention to him (and that's not bad for me, either, 'cuz I wuv him (did I ever tell you guys I'm related to Elmer Fudd?)). I'll put it up as soon as I can, maybe in pieces. Do you think that would be helpful? I was thinking, particularly for people who come in later. Bo

Because this drama is basically about a traditional family and the impact upon them of two girls who were not raised in a traditional manner, along with one girl who was (and I don't think I'm giving anything away here), you might find the following information about traditional Korean manners very helpful: www.koreanwiz.org/understand.htmlIf you have not already read this article, it is well worth your time. I read it over again every once in awhile, just to refresh my memory. Bo
