Alas, ukfan, I have only one DVD player. I watched disc #3, episode 7 and it was fine. All my DVDs from NETFLIX work fine as well. So I have to believe the flaw in in the disc. KBS-AMERICA has just provided a crappy product. Tinkerbell said it perfectly: They must be trying to knock out so many copies as fast as possible, but it is compromising the quality. They knew beforehand that there would be a high demand, so they should have started recording them long before announcing that they were available. never had this problem when ordering from YESASIA

Kathleen, does your computer, perhaps at work, play DVDs? That is one place you might play it. And I wonder, did you turn it over and make sure there's not some sticky residue of some kind on the face? I know, you probably did (and I hate when people do this to me, too), but it doesn't hurt to check again. I doubt, however, if you are having problems with a different copy of the same exact disk that the fault could possibly be muck-related.
Oh, wait, if it's muck, maybe it's that rotten Chun-su! THAT JERK. (Sorry. Note of levity and all that.)

Kathleen, you could try playing it on your computer like suggested, but if you remember duu saying it would only play on the DVD player(Playstation2 and computer would always "choke"). Also, some of the same episodes duu had problems with, I am also(and I have more than one DVD player).Could it be a coincidence that more than one of us is having problems? I don't think so. I think The Bo is right, it must be that weasel Chun-su!! (can't stand the sight of him).

Happily ever after ... In praise of KBSAmerica. It has taken a while to gather my thoughts in sharing my extraordinary experience as a paying customer of KBSAmerica. I am now the very pleased owner of all 104 episodes of IYSS. Having shared various emails with Mr. Kris Lee, his final decision reflects a true, a sincere reflection in establishg true customer service. He made available all 104 episodes. Because of Mr. Lee's wonderful attitude and generous offer, I know I will be a longtime customer of KBSA. My recommendations as a customer will continue to be highly favorable. End of story ...

Wonderful, Kathleen. Thanks for letting us all know about your experience.
Gosh. I sound like one of those self-help-omercials on PBS. LOL.

seven stars, Which bonus episodes are you talking about? There are 2 bonus DVDs that come with the whole set. They are called "23 Battles 23 Victories" and "400 Days of Passion". If you go back a few pages on this thread, I had described the content of these DVDs.

Yes, that was my understanding Kathleen.
At some point it was mentioned that there are actually 107 episodes in IYSS.

BTW I noticed that IYSS Volume 1 and all volumes of Emperor of the Sea are out of stock at that site. Any word on restocking or on the availability of other old series'?

seven stars--be very careful about what you order from that site. The sold-out volume 1 that you mention is NOT from the complete 104+specials episode set. It's from a severely edited 33-hour condensed version of the series. The condensed version comes in two volumes and is listed on the "DVD List" page; the full set is on the "EOR" page. The full set costs twice as much, but I've watched most of the condensed version and trust me, buy the full set even if you have to save up for it for a long time. Just way too many severe cuts in the condensed version, and the subtitles are nowhere near as good.

Does the full set version still have problems?

seven stars,
IMO, the complete set (EOR) is hands down the one to buy. There is just so much to experience. The cut version would leave you with so many gaps and questions (for anyone who hadn't watched it). Yes, the battle scenes are the best, but there is so much more to admire.
