We have no idea. It could be budget problems? Everybody's disappointed.

KBS ran out of money.
The other networks are doing big budget historical dramas, but you won't see them in the US.
Doing great. A wonderful series. I would highly recommend this series(more than YSS) if you can see it somehow.

Conclusion: Korean TV shows lots of Historical drama Glad to hear it, but they aren't showing here, consarnit In Chicago we have been used to 2 nights a week of historical dramas, now no more, so we're grumpy about it. Nobody has told us that more are coming, either, so we're being more or less patient while the government decides something about the power they will allow our station. So first I want all our friends to be able to get the channel again instead of being left out. Then we can try to tell them how much we love the historical dramas.

I'm sure someone already asked this, but isn't there a possibility of rebroadcasting some of the older K-Dramas?

I'm sure someone already asked this, but isn't there a possibility of rebroadcasting some of the older K-Dramas? Has anyone sent such a request to our new member, kbctvusa? You seem to be able to put a polite sentence together, 7-S, LOL. Why don't you PM him or her (I can't remember which). You can link through messages he (or she) has left on the Channel Change thread in Generals. Bo

Thanks Bo. I did PM the new member kbctvusa. It is very nice of them to make themselves available to us in that way. Actually, the profile does not specify if the member is male or female. Nevertheless, I did pose the question to them, and hopefully there will soon be a response. I'll keep everyone posted in this thread for the time being. By the way, I appreciate your encouragement as it pertains to my demeanor and writing style. That means a lot Bo! Blessings 7S

I received a very prompt response from kbctvusa regarding our question. The PM was cordial and professional. You can't ask for much more than that. I was told that kbctvusa broadcasts are dictated by their network affiliation, KBS World. They said that that their understanding is that there are other historical dramas in the works that will be coming to the U.S. and that if they receive more information about that it will be posted on their website, www.kbctvusa.com. It sounds hopeful to me. -7S

7S, that is the same response I got by email. I think I posted this in the generals area somewhere. I keep checking their website every few days to see if anything new happens.

There are Korean historical dramas. Most of them we probably watch but we don't know if it's historical. Otherwise, they're videos.

The situation we have in Chicago is that our Chicago station KBC runs KBS shows now. I think exclusively. I thought we would get Emperor of the Sea but alas we were jipped. If KBS makes anothr historical drama we may get to see it.

What we refer here to "historical dramas" are dramas that are historically based and not necessarily that are historically accurate if that is what you meant. For example, IYSS is a historical drama for all practical purposes although we know a few parts are historically inaccurate. Remember how the turtle boat sank during the first launch? Well, that never happened in history, but it still doesn't negate the fact that IYSS is a "historical drama." When you think about it, ALL dramas by definition can't really be historically accurate or it wouldn't be drama and the writers wouldn't be able to stretch the number of episodes. Interesting point you brought up. For clarification here are some recent historical dramas: Age of Warriors, Emperor of the Sea, IYSS, Dae Jang Geum, Damo etc. As opposed to modern dramas like My precious child, Farewell to Sorrow, Love letter, My sweetheart. You get the picture. A better descriptive term is "historical korean period dramas" but its too lengthly.
