This question is for any Philly fans out there (or other fans with long memories). Last week there were so many exciting things going on in Episode 22 and 23, I couldn't take it all in. Before YSS went back to the city with Master Bang and his daughter, Mijin gave him a handkerchief (or some kind of fabric) with one Korean character written on it. Can anyone remember what the word was? I thought it would be something like "I love you" but I believe it was an abstract noun. Anyone remember what it was?

I'm not a Philly fan. But as there is no answer, I permit myself to respond. The letter on Mijin's handkerchief is a Hanja (Chinese) character, ëù (Righteousness). Mijin received it from his father before he died.

Ahhhhh. Thanks so much. I saw the scene where her father and mother got killed, but I didn't remember him giving her the handkerchief.

I missed the episode in which they were killed. Thanks for that information.

OK, now for the follow-up. Poor Mijin gets taken away to Japan by Wazikara, and after 5 years manages to make her way back to Korea, 9 months pregnant and with an arrow in her back. Thinks her daughter will be safe in Chosun. Fifteen years later Wazikara just happens to come back to the spot where Mijin's daughter is living happliy ever after. Daughter gets captured and is soon on her way back to Japan with Wazikara (talk about bad luck dogging the entire family). Wazikara is amazed by resemblance. Question: Is Wazikara her father? I had assumed he was, but he didn't seem to make that connection. So who is her father?

Yes, Wakizaka is supposedly the father of Cho-Hee, Mijin daughter. But I wouldn't be too concern about the storyline now, since it will be abandon in future episodes. Meaning that they never gave any conclusions to the earlier episodes.

I didn’t think the show really indicate Wakizaka fathered Mijin’s daughter. The show implicated that this mysterious figure might have fathered Mijin’s dauther who definitely doesn’t look like Wakizaka when she was having those flashbacks while giving birth. Mystery Samurai (Cho-Hee’s father?) Mijin as Japanese I thought Mijin would be a slave servant girl/Geisha that Wakizaka pimped out to his fellow Daimyos or Taishos. If he took her as a wife, he would have treated her better instead of shooting an arrow at her back, probably kept her guarded when she was pregnant and Japanize their child sort of the way they did with Pyung/Kohei, Will Adams (Tokugawa's Englishman Retainer), or Konishi Yukinaga adopted Chosunese orphan daughter. Florel mentioned about Konishi’s Chosunese daughter in another thread.

Oh, Ronin, I did not see the scene with the "mysterious samurai"! You may be right. I wonder why I did not see this when I did see the scenes surrounding it and also those where she gave birth. Perhaps they were cut from the airings I saw (afternoon re-airings). Thanks for that info.
