I finally did some searching on the DVD for that classical piece that sounded so familiar. I'm not sure if we're talking about the same piece but it sounds "french" to me because it always plays whenever Joonsang and Yujin has a tender moment, especially when they're chatting at a cafe'. Hm, well the one I was talking about had single notes being played on the piano, slowly-ish. That's the part they usually use for WLS. Later on it adds other instruments. If you're talking about the same one that just uses single notes on a piano, then it should be the same one (I listened to it right after I'd heard it on the show to make sure). It's actually composed by a Polish man. But I would say that it sounds European, without any Russian influences, and French seems to be an epitome of things European.

Posted by: moreshige Posted on: Today at 02:02:27 Oh I missed a line:
After "I'll protect you" It goes "wherever you are, whenever you are"
O Moreshige, thank you so much for not forgetting this line - "Wherever you are, whenever you are" - it infers that through all time he will be with her.
I have come to affectionately prefer the "crude translations". It is to me like Japanese brush painting where your mind's eye completes the strokes to make the picture.

The single-note piano melody(phrase) is echoed immediately by a counter-melody. Then it moves on to another line that seems to answer the first two melodies. I hope this helps.

Yeah I think we are too. I am a woman possessed so I got out my flute and the first two melody/counters are (approximately, I can't be sure that I'm not in a different key and just getting the intervals correct):
B-flat (held for two counts) E-flat (held for one) E-flat (held for three) D (held for approx 3) rest for 3 counts
F (held for two) B-flat (held for one) G-flat (held for three) E-flat (held for approx 3) rest for 3
(up an octave) B-flat, G-flat, B, B (same time sig) rest
B-flat, A-flat, G-flat, E-flat
Did the link I pointed you to have the correct sample?
Anyway, it's a pretty song and I was excited to hear it used on a Korean drama, as well as a French movie. It shows that music really is universal.

Well now that WLS is over, I can't wait for my OST to arrive. Especially so I can listen to that beautiful song that was playing when Joonsang was by the ocean.

Oh Alexa... and here's something even cooler... yes, you will love #11 on the OST... but wait till you SEE it on this item: YesAsia Product Information Product Title : The Best Of Bae Yong Joon's Original Soundtrack All Record (Overseas Version) Singer Name(s) : Bae Yong Joon Release Date : March 5, 2004 Language : Korean Subtitle : Traditional Chinese Package Weight : 280 g Publisher : Alpha Other Information : CD + VCD YesAsia Catalog No. : 1003269825 Shipment Unit : 2 (What is it?) I've been enjoying the CD so much and last nite... rather than watch the OSCARS, I watched my last 2 taped episodes of WLS... AND THEN, I put in the VCD from this set and it's wonderful.... it's like 7 music videos of dramas tht BYJ has done. This set ... for only $16.00 + s/h... includes the VCD and CD, a color booklet of him from various drama scenes and a book of piano music... Last nite was the FIRST time I watched the VCD ... and that #11 on the OST? .... it's also on the VCD with magnificent shots.... ending with them kissing! The VCD is stuff from WLS, Hotelier, and Untold Scandal. you have to budget this into your collection. You won't be sorry. OK, I'm finished now. enjoy your day.

NO NO NO... think of it as contributing to our USA economy.. so it's a Korean product but it's being bought from a place in California.
something else about the VCD ... there are scenes .. closeups of Joonsang and Yujin with major tears in their eyes... moreso than what we saw on the drama.
I love that scene when Yujin first meets the Joonsang lookalike (can't remember how to spell his name)... the shots of their faces back and forth played against beautiful #11... oh my... better than ANY academy award!

not dumb at all! maybe it's a CDV.. I had never heard of it either... but the CLASSIC OST has a video with it too ... so CDV, VCD ... it must just mean there's a video with the CD. The discs are very cool. One is silver, one is gold... and there are small pictures of BYJ going across it. so to clarify...maybe... the CD is just music ... the VCD or CDV is music + Video If there's some hi-tech guru out there laughing, so be it.

VCD is actually a format that was (and still is) popular in asia that was the precurser to, or an alternative to, the dvd. I remember being in high school and watching things on vcd-like players - ah the early days of digital and laser technology. They don't play in dvd players (I think) but they should play on a computer; if the computer doesn't have built-in vcd capabilities, there should be some simple driver or software download that will give you that capability.

I've read quite a few references to the sheet music for this show, but can anyone tell me how to get the lyrics for the songs translated into English? Has anyone done that anywhere? It would be so wonderful to understand these wonderful melodies! And yeah, thanks alot Kathleen for explaining all the tech stuff. After a few years away from on-line life, I confess that I don't have a clue about alot of stuff. I'm still learning how to use this forum!!!
