This guy makes me so sad! He loves her so much and yet I think he knows that the love isn't reciprocated in the same way or even in the same amount as he shows Yujin.
Part of me then feels angry because he should just give up on her and try to find someone who will make him happy like he deserves. I call him the Enabler, because he's always apologizing to her and thinking that it's his fault that she doesn't love him.

Sanghyuk is one of the sweetest, nicest characters that I've seen on tv. But there are times when he is just to nice. I think he keeps everything inside and one day he is just going to explode! He knows that Yujin doesn't love him, and he puts up with alot, there are not alot of men like that. He deserves someone that is going to truly love him with all their heart. Which makes me think about Yujin. She doesn't love Sanghyuk, so why even be with him? Why hurt him so much? She will never be able to love him, the way he loves her. She should just let him go. She should really break it off now before she keeps hurting him even more. There is no point to being with someone that you don't love. I don't doubt that Yujin loves him, but she doesn't love him as a Man, a husband. She loves him as a friend.

I've noticed on many Korean dramas that characters often say that they like, rather than love, oneanother. I'm sure that it's meant to have a more significant meaning, though.

This is the reason that I stopped watching WLS the first time it aired. I could not believe that Yujin would hurt Sanhyuk to chase after a guy who looked like her high school crush. It was so frusterating!

Gasp! No, I guess I kind of like to suffer w/him. I think it's a really good drama. My brother who is really into J-pop and the culture as a whole is watching it with me and he's really into it to.

I think it's a really good drama. I agree. I'm starting to get attached to the characters. I think it is done very well, and the music and scenery certainly play a big part of it, too.

I think saran (salan?) is kind of like Japanese suki - it means they like someone but they use it for love too. I always think that's kind of odd/sad because in translation the strongest thing you can say to someone is that you like them. I like this one too - someone said in another thread that Yujin was acting a bit like Jieun on Phoenix, but I don't think she's nearly as bad - not only does she do things more quickly, but she doesn't (yet) have the whole I'm-so-guilty-I-caused-someone's-death-I'm-a-horrible-person thing going on.

I don't really think he's all that sweet or nice. He can be rather childish and petty when he doesn't get what he wants. I don't want to say too much so I'll stop there. I don't know.. that's just the way I see him. Then again.. I'm biased towards Bae Yong Jun and Choi Ji Woo. ;D

He sure did show that he wasn't such a sweetie anymore when he got so angry at Yujin recently. It was such a contrast from his nice high school days that I was surprised - I guess I expected him to act like a doormat for his entire life.

He is so adorable, though, with that swoopy hair and sweet face. I'll say it again, he's the Korean Paul McCartney, only, in retrospect, he's cuter than Paul ever was. Poor baby. She ain't never gonna love you the way she loves Joonsang/Minhyung. C'mere, you.

Especially when they show the flashbacks of when they were in school and they had to wear those mandarin-style collars. I think I heard somewhere that he's a singer (I don't know how popular), but in defense of Paul, he's (Paul) a better musician that SK ever was.

Funny how some of the guys look "Beatle-ish" in this show! Sometimes, I think that Minhyung looks kinda like John Lennon and Yoko Ono's son Sean, with the funky glasses and hair color.

I just love this show (have the DVD set)! I have to agree with Knov1 on this...Sanhyuk KNEW she didn't love him - he accepted it and still wanted to marry her because he felt she would come to love him...eventually. I felt he was petulant and controlling in a passive way (does that make sense?).
I am definitely biased toward Bae Yong Jun and Choi Ji Woo - I wanted the two of them to be together - as children and as adults.
My DH even likes this show a lot - he'll pop in a DVD and watch some of his favorite scenes...but Sanhyuk is not usually in them. ;-) (Not part of the subject of this thread, but I just start crying when I see Choi Ji Woo cry...she does it so perfectly...although I'd have a migraine from all the tears.)

You know, you're right! Good call, MrBill.
Melissa, you're in the US right now, correct? So is your DVD set Region 1 (that's the US region, right?), and does it have English subtitles? I might look into getting it. Thanks!

I felt he was petulant and controlling in a passive way (does that make sense?). I understand what you're saying. But I still say that the reason he hangs on to her is because she gives his illusion wings. If she would have told him since the beginning that she just doesn't have those types of feelings for him, he would have to move on. But since she's not yet told him this, he's always justifying staying with her.
