Well, Arlington Heights actually.
I was at the Mitsuwa Market today, and in the Japanese bookshop there, I saw at least ten different magazines devoted to K-Drama, particularly WLS. Although all the text was in Japanese, I could tell, because they all featured Bae Yong-jun on the cover, and extensively inside, too.
One magazine even had a map of Korea, with all of the location sites (park, house, school, etc.) pointed out. I gathered that one can even buy WLS souvenir plaques if you visit the park.

It's quite impressive, Soju. I work only about three blocks away, and have been to Mitsuwa many times. Going into the bookstore really makes me feel as though I'm on a far distant vacation . I didn't know about all of the books on Korean drama, though, and will look for them the next time I'm there. I doubt that any are in English, but would still love to see them.

I love this because it seems so removed to me (even though it's really not).
Korean Drama -> Sensation in Korea -> Goes to foreign market (Japan) -> Loved by foreign market -> Exported to expats of foreign market living in U.S.
This one also seems more export friendly because it hasn't yet dealt too much with Korean-specific family or historical situations.
