He looks so emotional. If I would've seen this award show and seen him win this award, I probably would've been crying too. I am so happy for him, he truly deserved that award.

Among the male acting performances this past year on KBS, it’s also hard for me to imagine anyone other than Kim Myoung-min taking the honors for best actor. He really was terrific in IYSS. Alexa, remember that these KBS awards shows usually end up airing in America a week or two after they air in Korea. As I recall (not 100% sure here) there’s two of them, one for comedy/variety shows, and the other for dramas. They never seem to be English subtitled, but if you’ve seen most of the nominated dramas, it’s pretty easy to follow what’s going on. So, keep watch on KBC (assuming you can still receive it ) over the next few weeks – you might be pleasantly surprised!

This is what he said after winning that award.
"Playing the great admiral (Yi Soon-shin) was the biggest fortune in my life. Dear admiral, you gave me such mental anguish but now give me this great award. You are truly great. Thank you God for making me be here. I almost gave up everything in the past. At that time, Director Yi Seong-ju lead me to meet Yi Soon-shin and encouraged me to restart my life. Thank you. Dear writers, shooting director, and lighting director, Thank all of you. And... I'm truly appreciative of my great senior actors. They helped me who was making frantic attempts to mimic Yi Soon-shin. They covered my hollow performance. Thank you, dear extra actors. They were willing to make their flat-out efforts even though they were playing a minor role. Thank you, staff. They had suffered in the battlefield-like filming locations for one and a half year, fighting with the extreme hot/cold weather. I love all of you. About 300 actors/actresses. They treated me just like a real admiral. Thanks a lot. My manager Jun-hwan, Thank you very much. I'm feeling grateful for my wife who had to bring up Jae-ha (* his son) alone for about one and a half year. I love you so much. Finally, I'll never think that I am the best. I swear I'll not act only for myself. Thank you. "

Is it just me or does he seem repulsed by this fat woman trying to get him? ;D

He definitely deserves high praise for his role in this series. Kim Myoung-min was spectacular!
