Hiya~!! I've had my eye on the KBS webstore for about two months now, and it no longer says that IYSS is coming to DVD in March. It now says "Coming soon to Episodes on Demand". This might be a stupid question but, what is EOD? And are they no longer releasing the series to DVD? Thanks, ~ Heather www.nocturnal-butterfly.net/

Heather, is that like Pay-per view on cable, do you think? If so, no, no, no! I want my own IYSS!! Especially since our Nalbal is golfing now which means we may or may not see him in a series.

Teresa, Oh, I hope not! Because I doubt any of the US cable channels offer something like that. I was thinking it was some sort of download site, but for me that stinks, too, because I don't download media and have a slow cable connection. Twitch Film had listed IYSS as a "to be announced" street date in March as well, stating that Bitwin was releasing the 7-DVDs (season 1) as a Special Edited Edition. But I checked the Bitwin website and didn't find anything either! This isn't looking good... My last hope is that AZN TV picks it up - like say, after Emperor of the Sea finishes airing in five weeks. Or I'll have to start checking the Hong Kong VCDs on eBay, which I'd rather not do since the quality is awful. Siiiigh. Nalbal~ !! ♥ I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that he auditions and lands a new role sometime SOON! I would prefer a movie as opposed to another series because movies are released quicker, which means we in the States can see it all the more sooner. But hey, if he gets a leading role in a series, I won't complain either. Well, considering he already got his certification, he should have free time to act. I didn't think he'd actually go full-time to professionally teach golf - considering all the other sports he always did whilst being an actor. Unless of course he wants to come over here and teach on the East Coast. I wouldn't mind learning to swing a 9-iron from him!! ~ Heather

You can order it here; The DVD's are likely region 3, and no subtitles, I'm sure. Each ep is on a seperate DVD and costs 33,000 Won, so the entire series and the two specials would run about $3500.00 It's less if you buy VHS -- but be sure you have nine feet of shelf space avaiable for all those cassettes.

$3,500.00! Good googlie mooglie. I guess the only people they're planning to sell the series to is Donald Trump.
For that kind of money, Heather and I can GO to Korea and take golf or martial arts lessons from Nalbal... or, well, really whatever he wants to teach us.

Wowzers! Is that the "Episodes on Demand" that the KBS English webstore mentioned? That cannot be a retail site because those prices seem rather ridiculous, and there's usually more than one episode on a disc... All this waiting, that is so disappointing... Amen, Teresa!! I say we buy plane tickets and start packing now!! And I'll opt for that "whatever" he wants to teach us. (LOL) ;D ~ Heather

Just read this little snippet at Twitch, dated March 20th:
"Good news for fans of last year's The Immortal Lee Soon-Shin. The fantastic 104 Episode Historical Drama about the life of legendary Admiral Lee Soon-Shin was supposed to come out on DVD this Spring from Bitwin, but for months there were no news other than it was under production. Now it's been announced that Sidus, which will enter the DVD market soon, bought the rights to release the Historical Drama on DVD... No release dates have been announced, but it shouldn't take too long."
*crosses fingers* ~ Heather

Hah! I've heard that "shouldn't take too long" line before, LOL. Most notably for the widescreen DVD release of Branaugh's Hamlet, and I'm still waiting. Well, I hope it's a go. $3300 sounds like extortion to me.

I loved this drama, IYSS was my favorite historical drama, I admire the man that YSS was and learned alot from him, but I AM NOT paying $3000 for the dvd's. That is crazy, even if I had that kind of money, I wouldn't buy them. I hope that it was a mistake and that they actually meant $300.
I'm still hoping that they will make a IYSS OST, that I would definetely buy,

Why don't you guys send KBS emails to demand to release DVD and music CD? Since I missed the drama when it was showing on TV, I had to watch all of the episods of it on the internet, which was not clean enough to watch. I really want to see the fantastic scenes and stars (especially Kim Myong Min) on a clean screen. KBS Address : englishweb@kbs.co.kr english.kbs.co.kr/index.html

I am with you guys on this one!
IYSS is the best series that I have ever watched. Like Alexa, I am willing to spend $300 on the DVD's. $300 per set would surely turn a profit considering the relatively low costs associated with DVD production. Having said that, $1000 would be an obnoxious price, to say nothing of $3000.

Anyone have an update on the status of the dvds? Also, I too am willing to spend $200-$300 for the set, but not $3,000. That is an insane amount to spend on a television show, not matter how great it is. I for one hope the dvd set includes not only the 104 episodes, but the 2 extra episodes, and some extras. Also, it would be even greater if they packaged the OST with the dvd set.
