Yeah, Tim, most of the people here are Americans--and "we don't know what we are" LOL. There are people from many races and ethnicities and "countries of origin." As long as the conversation remains friendly, we don't really care who defends whom.

I would also like to point out that I'm Korean-american which means that all the information I learned about Korean history is from works in english or english translations of primary sources. I grew up not knowing anything about korean history (apart from general historical names) or east asian history for that matter. Ironcially, it was korean drama that made me interested in korean history. lol
Tim, you arrived at a forum where the majority of posters are not koreans by nationality (as in my case) or especially, by ethnic origin. We just have one thing in common: our love for korean tv DRAMA. While we do have very knowledgable people here in the korean historical dramas on korean history etc. we still have to remember this is not a history forum. For that, there are better sources. Although, I do admit as far as the Imjin war is concerned, florel could more than hold her own on this topic. But florel, skinz and some others I come to respect their 'expertise' only because of 1.) their love for history 2.) their good track record here and 3.) i know they have the resources (books etc, not just the internet) to back up their findings and opinions.

wow, i didn't know so many people here weren't Korean. That's good to hear. Sorry about that. Yeah, this isn't a history forum, but this drama is a HISTORICAL drama (or maybe historical fictional drama would be a better genre) it has its roots tied deep down in history. It does talk a bit of rascism, and people of different race obviously would want to defend their causes. just saying my point. Btw, is there anyone here who's Japanese or know anyone who's Japanese taht watches this drama??? just curious.

I see so the last to shows extra ones are just recaps? So only 2 left why the big gap on nov 19? I know this was posted somewhere but so you don't need to look for it...the special episodes (a recap / interview and documentary on YSS) will be on tues 11/1 and Mon 11/7. KDD's church already had plans for an event on 11/7 and he has things going on the following week. It is also pretty cool that 11/19 is also YSS's final battle (thanks to Kathleen for bring that to our attention). plus it's the day before my bday! (shamless plug for attention)

Where can I listen to YSS music, it's somewhere in the threads cafetacbva, I am the person who posted some IYSS music extracted from the video on this board a few months ago (Click here) , but I already deleted those files because I heard at that time that the OST might be released in the near future. (The music director indicated in an interview that the OST might be released as a limited edition). Unfortunately, there has been no news report about the OST after that. I hope the OST is relased with the DVD on December.

Chigrl we should have some drinks? cafetacbva, I don't know if you're hitting on Chigirl (that's her business, I guess, LOL) or asking if we can have alcohol at the party, but the latter is not possible because it's being held at KDD's church. But I thought you had discussed this already in the party thread, so I guess Chigirl better watch out... Bo

I am guessing as a group to stop off after. I did put up a few bar names in the other thread. So I think this is how it started. My other half will be with me as always so no worries. Thanks for looking out for me Bo.

Hi, I just wanted to kno: so, there's a documentary after the drama? Does anyone kno anyone who lives in NY? Cuz the drama finished showing on October 29. Please don't tell me I missed the documentary. Please, please, please. Thanx for ur help.

P.S. BTW, I absolutely loved this drama. I was wondering if you guys kno any other historical dramas that are "must sees" (besides AOW b/c I saw that, and that was GREAT).

Reportedly, there were *two* documentaries that aired after the conclusion of IYSS in Los Angeles: one English subtitled, one not. I do know for sure that The Asia Network (which where I watched IYSS) showed one of these two documentaries, but TAN broadcasted it without subtitles. This kind of thing makes me wish I were back in Los Angeles . . .

Are you serious? I hope they didn't air it in NY yet. If they did, I'm going to be extremely upset. I don't know about u guys, but ever since I've watched the drama, it's encouraged me to delve into the history of my parents' nation. I've become more and more interested in Korean history, and I went to the library to borrow the English translations of YSS Memorials to Court and his diary, and now, I'm trying to look for Yu Syung Ryong's account of the Imjin War. It's kinda weird how one show can change everything. ~Thedummie2
