Well, this, was great. not only is the old theme song back {thank god! did they really expect us to listen to something that makes you think of leprechauns dancing in the forrest?}but the story is truly great. The ending was very sudden though. And how are so many Japanese soldiers able to get into Korea so easily? Also, Chun-Su is a rat. How can you go and tell Baron Huh, after Soon Shin just spared his life? But, I will admit, [Kim Kyu Chul] is the best actor on that show. I expect no less from the man who played Ui-Jong on Age Of Warriors.
BTW, if anyone is interested, I also was able to catch those stupid "Death Wish" movies, with Charles Bronson. Ah, those were good times. When any cop can kill 13,276 corrupted communist drug dealers, without ever reloading his god d**ned gun!

Is something going to happen between Mijik and Soon-Shin? I noticed that the subtitles say Soon-Shin, but it sounds like she's saying brother or something like that. Loved the sequence between the future Emperor and our famed scholar and future Prime Minister.

Yeah, whatever Mijin is calling him, it doesn't sound like "Soon Shin" even though that's what the subtitles say. Can we get some clarification from Christy on this?

i thought this episode was great also. the way it starts with the broken-hearted son of the murdered potter....very sad.
i detest chun su for what he has become. he had other options and chose the wrong path.
i like mijin so much. she is a woman of great heart and substance, nothing frivolous about her. i think she was calling soon shin 'brother' or perhaps 'friend'....but it was not 'soon shin'.
i understand more now about the conflicts that the future emperor and prime minister eventually face over soon shin....the way their relationship starts and their many years together make these conflicts even more compelling.
and soon shin....i love the man he is becoming....i like the more mature look (guess it is the beard coming in). he is so determined to right the wrongs...to stand up against the corruption....even at great risk to himself, even doing it alone....he just can't look the other way, no matter who he is up against. his intelligence is great, his heart is greater, his compassion is unlimited.
i love this drama, i love yss.....what a man!

In Korean, the word "oppa"(modern useage) or "orabonim" (Chosun era useage of "oppa"), is used very often to describe any one of the following:
- you are a female, and you have an older brother - to refer to him, you will call him "oppa" or orabonim (Chosun).
- you are a female, and you have a boyfriend but he is older than you. To refer to him, you will call him "oppa", or "orabonim" (Chosun).
As you can see, depending on the situation and the relationship, the word "oppa", litterally translates to "older brother", can be either older brother by blood, or a boyfriend.
Hope this will clear up your confusion.

Yes! Luvarchfiend said it best!

well, we see what sort of a man nalbal turns into later on - a man of quiet strength and integrity, as well as unquestioning loyalty to the admiral.

i am so pleased to see how the relationship begins between nalbal and yss....it is so touching, that it begins from tragedy for the child, and how yss comforts him, and teaches him....well you can see why nalbal would be so fiercely loyal to yss, and why they have the special relationship they have. and with yss being a role model for nalbal, it is no wonder he is a man of quiet strength and integrity.

Luvarchfiend said it best! right eowyn....it was that scene of the child nalbal crying because he did not know how to make the porridge and knew his mother would suffer and perhaps die if he could not.....that just ripped my heart up. the child actor here does a fine job of making you feel his pain and distress....

yes, the show is just so good that way! exactly. the show may have hit a lull in 'action', but seeing the life of yss from childhood and the relationships formed before he was the great admiral....well i agree that the show has done a very good job of setting things up.....i just can hardly wait from episode to episode to see how things progress.

I hope something does happen between them. Like MARRIAGE Hahaha. Yeah, what the hell is she calling him? The only thing I can think of is brother.
