I never really underdstood this guy. At first, they portrayed him as a wise man. But now, he's all evil, and corrupted. Can someone tell me what I missed?

He's just a man who wants to play all the angles. He took Soon Shin in because he could see that the kid had potential. But Huh is a businessman above all else. His priority is his own ass. He do what ever he thinks is necessary to survive and make money.

It did seem that earlier on that the Baron was enthusiastic about playing the integrity angle proposed by YSS, but when it came to the test he was implementing by sending the guys to settle the salt accounts, he was focused on his gravy train with the government. You know what they say-- "A man's goose is his gander". Ehhh... Well then.
