I think the guy who doesn't like Soon-shin and wishes him ousted from the training camp looks a lot like AOW's Chief Huh Seung? It's the same actor. I've seen him in roles on some other Korean shows since AOW and he looks quite different sans facial hair and sans the Huh Seung attitude. His distinctive voice and broad smile provide us with the best clues for recognition.

Also, it is the way his eyes shift that made me think so - they stealthily and cooly move side to side and seem to gaze out as if they are looking down at you - haughty yet reserved.

I'm glad you spotted him too. I haven't been watching this show much (no knock on the show, I've just got too much going on) and I would have had a difficult time telling the other members which character I was talking about.

A couple more that i've noticed:
"Lady Min" in Jang - geum
And a big one that i was wondering why he looked familiar -- Choi Jae Sung as "Won Kyun" -- he played "Prince Yo" in "Dawn of Empire"

Choi Woo {Ch'oe U}in AOW, is the Jurchen chief Noh Suk-Soong in AOW, is the chief of that one tribe that YSS is fighting. The dude with the horned helmet resembles Kim Yak-Jin from AOW. I guess its the return of Woo-Bong.

And how about the two masters that YSS and his friend Ryu Sung-ryong (the scribe/scholar) go to when YSS is accused of cheating the government and must go on the run, and Sung-ryong loses heart? I watched Ep 20 this morning, and realized YSS's Master, the potter, was the loveable Suh Dong-pyu in One Million Roses and the evil Sir Oh in Dae Jang-geum. His name is Jo Kyung-hwan. Lee Soon-jae, the grandfather in Who's My Love, was Sung-ryong's master (I think--it's been awhile since I saw him, and it may really have been Jo Kyung-hwan that I recognized.).

How about continuing and completing this thread ?
- As many of you have already noted, Huh Seung of AOW came back with the role of General Yi Il.
- Minister Moon of AOW changes his job as the Japanese monk and Hideyoshi's adviser, Saisho Shotai.

YSS's other adjunct officer on Nokdun Island is the same actor who played Do-sohn in Dobang in AOW.
The fat soldier under his command is the same one who played Jaunson's spy boy during the time of Manjok's rebellion (he faked his death during the battle where the rebellion was put down.)
Of course, Chung-Su was the deposed emperor in AOW.

I thought that could have been Do-sohn.
Oh yeah, I remember that boy now, the spy for Jaunson.
You have a good eye for faces, mugwump.

Did we already note here the Minister Yoon is the two half-brothers' father from "Winter Sonata"? Almost unrecognizable, such a good actor. Also, one of the ministers--I think he's the minister of war?--older man--played Goeun's father on "Who's My Love."
