Though victorious in his battle to drive out the Japanese, a stray bullet ended Admiral Yi's illustrious military career and plunged a nation into mourning. I hope it would please him to know that the fruits of his labors are still being appreciated four centuries later, and not just by Koreans.
His last words, even in death reflected his duty to his country:
"Do not weep, do not announce my death. Beat the drum, blow the trumpet, wave the flag to advance. We are still fighting. Finish the enemy to the last one."
Happy Anniversary to one of the world's greatest heros, Tong-Jeh-Sah Yi Soon Shin!!!

thanks VIB for the post and the quote. i think the admiral would be pleased, but i also think he would be surprised...that after all this time, not only is he revered in his own country, but by many others who are now getting acquainted with this extraordinary man. i have said it before (as have you ) and i will say it again.... what a man!!!! sighs.
