i liked this one as it neatly summarizes the admiral's frustration with the state of Chosun.
Seventh moon, 1595 1. Im-sin
Showers. Being a national memorial service day (for king Injong), I did not attend office; sitting alone in my pavillion, I thought of the national power as if as ephemeral as the morning dew; there does not seem to be any eminent ministers who can make positive decisions within, nor is there a general who can save the nation without. I cannot even guess what will become of the nation. My thoughts are perplexed; I tossed and rolled deep in thought.

a nice passage that shows both Yi's ongoing battle with those who envied him:
First Moon, 1594: 18. chong-yu
We departed at daybreak, braving a strong adverse wind, and arrived at the Changsondo, Hamhaegoon. As the wind subsided we spread sail and rowed to Saryang, where the adverse wind blew and a rainstorm came. The Saryang Captain and Chun Yooon, a naval officer of Won Kyun, came out to meet us. Chun Yoon said that some sailors were carried from the sea to land in Go Chang, and that the field marshall (Kwol Yul, Commander in chief of the army and navy) interfered with their return to the war vessels. Ridiculous! From of old there are always people who are jealous of other's merits. What can be said? We passed the night.

a passage pertinent to episode 4:
Eleventh moon, 1598 8. Visited Commodore Chen Lien at his Headquarters, where I attended a banquet with wine and food, I returned to my camp after dark. Some time later, Chen invited me to come see and him. When I went, he said that a circular letter had arrived from land, telling of the enemy's intended evacuation by sailing from Waegyo. He suggested that we sail out swiftly to the open sea to cut off and block the enemy's route home

Hey VIB, does he have any passages about the Konishi and wakizaka? Wondered what he thought about the invaders?
