i wish the writers of all historical dramas would leave the fiction out of them. for those of us who are not well versed in the true facts it is very confusing. the members of this board are fortunate that there are other members who do know the real history and help us sort it all out. just a shame that this is necessary.

episode 11 just has more heartbreak, but things start looking up towards the middle of the episode.
and i must say, though i detest the historical won kyun, the current one, he's got some big balls i must say. i like him so far. too bad he's got to turn into a major badguy later
soon shin is a pretty shrewd business man...

i wonder how much of this family history of being a traitor is based in reality. from reading his war diaries, there is very little mention of this, if any at all. his military life seems to have been brought down by those who were jealous of him rather than those who tried to accuse him of being a traitor's son

I'm sorry, I was wrong. I said the pretty girl in the episode 11 preview is Mi-jin, Yi Soon shin's first lover, and Actress Kim Bo-gyeong will play the role, but that was my mistake. I found the girl is "Bang Yeon-hwa", and Yes, she will become Yi Soon-shin's wife. (Actress Kim Yu-Jeong) Mi-jin, the tragic heroine who Yi Soon-shin really loved will be acted out by Actress Kim Gyu-Ri. Here is her photo. I don't know why Mi-jin's role has been changed from Actress Kim Bo-Gyoung to Actress Kim Gyu-Ri. The staff spokesman says she could not do her job very well. a news article news.naver.com/news/read.php?mode=LSD&office_id=108&article_id=0000001491§ion_id=106&menu_id=106

some very very prime examples of korean folk dancing and customs in this episode.
one of my particular favorites, the hat dancers. these guys have long ribbons on top of their hats that they swing in elaborate patters by twirling their heads. it gives you a headache to watch, but it also looks like great fun! i always wanted to learn how to do it

FOR ALL MARTIAL ARTS FANS
episode 11 is jam packed with it
for romantic intrigue fans,
my personal suspicion is that the only thing that drives two men who are close friends apart is ....
...a woman. i bet that is what turns won kyun against soon shin...

Suggestion (no really, not a subtle order ;D ) ==> Now that Admiral Yi is on in CHicago...think we can start individual threads on the episodes (looking at VIB's, those seem to be episode summaries that seem to be standalone, and good reference posts)?

Sounds like an interesting series after reading episodes. But i must say that the bad guy plot seems typical for bad guy roles.
