I know I can't be the only one who thinks the Damo music is really wonderful. Whether the scene is heart-tugging, gut-wrenching, exciting, sorrowful, violent, suspenseful, passionate, tragic, heartbreaking, etc., the music is perfect and adds so much to this drama. It's beautiful.

Is The Last Haven the song that they play in the scene showing the mountain stronghold and town people lazing about at the waterfall?

Is The Last Haven the song that they play in the scene showing the mountain stronghold and town people lazing about at the waterfall? No, The Last Haven is mostly used for scenes involving Yoon. For example, when he was carrying Chae ok to the temple in ep. 9 or when he was watching Chae ok leave in ep. 10. Examples of the other songsSong of Sorrow is the song that was being played when Chae ok was shot at end of ep. 6 and Sung Baek went back to save her. Song of Devotion is the song that was used in ep. 1 after Yoon was tending to Chae ok's arm. Destiny II is the song that was playing when Sung Baek and Chi oh were fighting in ep. 8.

Ah, thanks. I will go to Soompi and listen to the tracks to figure out if it's even on the soundtrack. I like that song - I think just because it's in a song that I own.

And no I don't think it's on the soundtrack. I listen to the soundtrack by downloading the songs that were posted here on the board and I didn't hear it.

Darn it! I will look to see if I can find it. The song that I have only has a short sample of the wooden flute part.

tip-toeing into conversation
Umm..for me, the modern/rock pop music, in addition to some over-use of cinematic effects, actually pushed away me & my wife, keeping us from fully enjoying the series. It just didn't match up.
Maybe we're too stuck on Jang Geum (and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), but it seemed to me that JG's soundtrack was more in-line with the show
slowly backing away from the vehicle, hoping not to get hit with arrows

(sound of JP getting shot at with arrows) Your comment reminded me about the explanation for the Chinese character for knowledge - it shoots like an arrow out of your mouth (it's the sign for arrow next to the one for mouth). To me, the era of the music doesn't really matter, just the feeling and how it went with the show. Such as the electronic music that was basically a heartbeat with background noise - I thought that worked b/c they used it during those intense scenes (reminded me of Alias's heartbeat music though). This was just mood music to me - if you notice, whenever they did have music in the storyline they used the period music - like when the woman was playing the lute-type instrument (??) for the king and the string broke and he sent her away - that was period music and in the story.

It just didn't match up. That's OK, J.P. & wife, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. For the record, I also started out watching the drama thinking, "Er, this is too much for me, not my style, etc." But actually, the pop/rock music theme/intro song is a very small part of the overall music of Damo. I often listen to the 13 cuts from the series and nearly all of them are beautiful, sad instrumental melodies and ballads. But that's ok, everyone is entitled to their own experience, and that's what makes this board so enjoyable.

It is good music, FlowerLady, and for that matter, I always seem to enjoy the music on all of the Korean dramas ... even though some sounds very dated Congratulations also on becoming a Senior now with 220 posts, FlowerLady!
