Did anyone catch the song competition program late Saturday afternoon? One of the winners was clearly non-Korean (she looked Latina). Her Korean husband was in the audience, and she seemed to speak quite fluent Korean. I wonder how many foreigners are residents of South Korea. I wish I had heard this woman sing -- it would have been a trip!

Are you talking about the "ladies sing" program ? If you are, I remember the one you're talking about. Keeping in mind I can't sing a note, so I really have no business to criticize...... but she was pretty bad. I didn't stay tuned to see the winner, but I remember thinking that no way would she win. There were 2 other ladies that were much better.

If you want to watch foreigners sing in Korean, there is an annual singing competition just for them. I think it airs every New Year's Day (at least in Los Angeles). There are competitors from all over the world, and some of them are quite good!

Well, she was the third-place winner (judging by the size of the trophies), and I didn't hear any of them sing in the competition, but I did hear the first-place winner sing to close the show, and she was off-key big time (unless Korean singing has a different set of pitches from ours).
