It looks like "Bodyguard" will replace On The Green Prairie. Does anyone know anything about this drama?

Try this: www.koreanwiz.org/at/drama-bodyguard.html it is the koreanwiz page about Bodyguard. It contains the names of the cast and what dramas they were in previously, plus links to the KBS site for Bodyguard. There isn't much info on the Koreanwiz site yet, and the KBS site is hard to navigate and chock full of spoilers. But what's to spoil when we have no idea what's going on? I hope this helps!

I’m delighted to hear that Chicago fans are going to be getting “Bodyguard” soon. This series has been running in Los Angeles for about 6 weeks now (we’re up to episode 13) and – somewhat to my surprise – it really grabbed me. Please do check it out; I think you’ll enjoy it.
For anyone who might be interested, here’s a brief introduction (don’t worry, no spoilers):
The lead character (Hong Kyung-tak) is a hot-tempered, rough-edged kind of guy. But, Kyung-tak has his principles, and he won’t tolerate things he sees as injustices – an attitude that often gets him in more trouble than the genuine bad guys he confronts. His hard working (and long suffering) parents operate a potato stew restaurant, where he helps out intermittently. Also helping out at the restaurant is his bleach-blonde little sister (Kyung-mi) who is good-hearted but nearly as rough-edged as her brother.
Quite by accident, Kyung-tak is on the scene when a spoiled high-fashion model (Sin-ae) is attacked by a deranged man. Sin-ae’s stone-cold female bodyguard (Yu-jin, played by the same actress who portrayed the gloomy heiress in “Like Father, Unlike Son”) is caught completely off-guard, and Kyung-tak ultimately subdues the attacker. The bodyguard’s boss (who is also the model’s older brother) is duly impressed and immediately offers Kyung-tak a job. Ultimately, he accepts it, and his first assignment is . . . protecting that spoiled high-fashion model.
Kyung-tak has a good relationship with a local police investigator, Man-bok. Though Man-bok is a nice guy, he’s under intense pressure at work for having failed to solve a string of mysterious murders. And a pretty (but slightly bratty) young girl (Na-young) has moved into the neighborhood, accompanied by her ailing grandmother (played by the actress who also appears as Grandma Sohn in “Yellow Handkerchief”). But the grandmother knows a dark secret about Na-young – and it’s a secret she’d prefer to take to her grave.
Enjoy! – Mikey

Thanks for the summary, Mikey! It sounds interesting, so I'll give it a try. I hope it is able to catch my attention better than On the green prarie did. I wanted so badly to like this show, but I kept forgetting about it. Maybe Bodyguard will keep me hooked the way Who's My Love did! ;D

I'm probably the only one that's hoping that it won't be Bodyguard. I know a bit about Bodyguard and it just doesn't seem all that interesting to me. I would much rather KBC give the MBC miniseries Damo or the drama (from MBC also) that was #1 in Korea, can't remember the name of it though, till it ended recently (YH became #1 after that drama ended). It was replaced by Damo, which was also very popular, but Damo is a miniseries, only 14 episodes and set in the past (it's not a historical drama though) so I doubt KBC would give it.

Oops, sorry about that double-post . . .
Knov1, I probably saw the same “Bodyguard” previews that KBC-28 is running, and I remember thinking that it was going to be a real turkey – just a foolish gangster flick with lots of action but zero plotline. I was pleasantly surprised: it’s actually a rather complex and interesting drama. “Bodyguard” certainly grabbed me a lot quicker than “On the Green Prairie” did, so please do give it a fair shake – maybe you’ll be surprised, too!

I think 'Bodyguard' was very highly rated in Korea.
I wonder who's doing the subtitles for us here? Michael did the first few eps for 'Prairie' here, but the rest were done elswhere, but not by KTE. That's why WOCH put that logo up in the corner of the screen, to obscure the one put there by the subtitlers.

I also didn't have a favorable opinion of "Bodyguard" and cringed everytime I saw the the previews that aired here in LA. I thought it was going to be another wannabe gangster story, all about looks and no substance, but the show isn't like that at all. It is a refreshing replacement (to Green Prairie), where the main character is a little rough around the edges and isn't insanely good.

KBC hasn't given any previews (not any that I have seen anyways). I haven't seen or heard any announcement yet about the drama that's following On The Green Prairie. I wouldn't base my opinion merely on previews though. I've watched quite a bit of Korean dramas outside of what KBC gives. Like I said, I know a bit about Bodyguard but it just didn't catch my interest. We all look at things differently though. I know some viewers like YH better than On The Green prairie but for me it's actually the opposite. I've watched On The Green Prairie from the start but I lost interest in and stopped watching YH a while back. My sister watches it though so she tends to fill me in.

Bodyguard will be the next drama that KBC will be giving on Friday's and Saturday's at 8pm. At the end of the last 2 episodes of 'On The Green Prairie' KBC ran previews for Bodyguard. After going back and reading what I intially wrote about Bodyguard, I think I was being harsh. I have no idea what got into me that day. Anywyas, I'm looking forward to checking it out next weekend.

I noticed at the end of episode 2, that on the bottom of the screen and it was in small print for me. I watch these shows on a 5" black and white tv because its the only one it comes in on. Would love to watch in color someday. LOL But as I was saying, on the bottom of the screen it said that it was to be aired Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm. I am a little confused. Is it staying on Friday and Saturday or is it moving to those nights? And if it is moving then what is taking its place on Friday and Saturday nights?

sasami: I suspect that that's the program schedule for Los Angeles, where they produced the subtitled version.

sasami: I suspect that that's the program schedule for Los Angeles, where they produced the subtitled version. That's odd . . . "Bodyguard" had been running in Los Angeles at 8:00pm on Saturday/Sunday, but it was recently shifted to Thursday/Friday at 9:30pm. I have no idea what might have been meant by the Wed/Thurs reference, but I don't think it was placed there by L.A.'S KTE. Mikey

Knov1: I don't remember that drama's name either, but that "Damo" drama was suggested by one of the station managers, too. Though the reasons are still vague, it probably had something to do with contracts with Korean broadcasters, and higher-up's personal preferences. Besides than that, with station work, school, youth work and family, I don't really have much time to delve into drama world for now (much less updating kbc28.tv website!! <sorry>).

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed to hear that but I understand. I called KBC to ask about Damo but the person I spoke to had never even heard of it. I had to tell him who worked in it and what it was about. I didn't take that as a good sign. I was planning on calling them back until I read your post yesterday and figured there would be no point in doing that.
I think it's a bit of shame though because Damo was very popular in Korea, all 14 episodes were in the top 5 in ratings, and it has a big following in the US as well. Damo seems to be the new breed of 'historical' dramas. Younger casts, the timeline and sorroundings of the characters are fairly accurate but the characters themselves are fictional. The SBS drama 'Chun Nyun Ji Ae' (1000 Year Love) falls along those lines too. The drama deals with both the past and the present though but a lot of history is involved in the story.
