Due to the last 8-10 eppys I must admit I have had a MAJOR change of heart regarding Young-Lan (lemon lips...hehe). When she first appeared on the scene, I HATED this character...so haughty. This mom who totally abandoned her child...so full of herself. Am I alone in this...or does anyone else out there think the writers did a pretty good job of presenting her in a new light? She is so brazen b/c she grew up in an abusive/patriarchal household where her mother was mistreated...we saw in a flashback to the States that Eun-Soo once pleaded with her to "save" him from the critical, watchful eye of hs mother...she CAN be courteous as evidenced by her behavior at Sung Ae and Min-Sup's house...she worries about JiWoong when the seemingly unstable Jung Hee takes him and then thanks her when Jung Hee calls. She is so arrogant, or so it seems, because she has reason to be!!!! This is one smart lady. She can read people well and usually keeps herself emotionally divorced from cirumstances, thus allowing her to make clearheaded decisions and accurate assumptions. This is my new KDrama heroine...I love this girl!! (Think our conservative buddies at KBS will reunite her and ES? oooooohh I hope I hope!! ;D)

I agree with you! At first I really disliked Young-lan b/c I liked the idea of Eun-soo with Jung-hee. Everything seemed to be going well and bringing in Young-lan only caused trouble. But now, I like Young-lan. I do what her to get back with Eun-soo though, but then what about Jung-hee? She's not just going to leave so easily. Eun-soo's mom even seemed to start to slowly like her. They made kimchi together without tearing at each other's throats...LOL. I'm so sad that Young-lan wants to leave now...what's up with that?!

I am still getting over the huge look of bewilderment on Eun-soo's face when Young-lan asked him if he would hold her. He gave her the, "Are you out of your mind?!" look. It's a good thing that Ji-woong was there so Young-lan could get him to help her get the hug . When Young-lan was in the taxi, crying....I couldn't help but remembering the time when Jung-hee was talking to her. Young-lan was coming out of Eun-soo's house and Jung-hee was sitting outside. Young-lan gave a bit of a smirk and Jung-hee said, "That smile will someday turn into tears."

Well, I know that everyone but Jungae had pretty much come to accept her, understand her and even like her. However, I don't think they thought she had much chance of getting back together with Eunsoo so they should've seen this coming.
But Jungae I think was just starting to come around, because she apparently doesn't even know that Younglan's leaving is what's bothering her.
Now, what's going on with Younglan? Was that scene at the end of the episode today a flashback or is she still hanging around, pretending to have left but really watching her son and ex from afar? That's kind of creepy if she's still in Korea.

That's kind of creepy if she's still in Korea. Could she be waiting for her Visa to be approved? Could she be waiting around to make sure there really will be a wedding? Could she be waiting around to see if her spineless ex might try to stop her from leaving? Could she waiting around because she really doesn't want to leave? I don't thnk we've seen the last of her, I hope!

I think she's still in Korea, but I don't think it's creepy. She did leave, but maybe she's tying up loose ends or trying to decide what to do next. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but then, she's probably confused.
IMO, part of it was a flashback, and the part where she saw them in the park was real. She had the same sweater on in that scene that she had on in the hotel (it was grey with some little knit bobbles on it), only she had a jacket over it in the park.

Okay, thanks. I thought she was wearing the same clothes and the expression on her face was a bit more sad than it has been other times when she's watched them.
She probably wanted to see if they were sad. Shame on Jiwoong for perking up so quickly! And shame on his father for using emotional blackmail to make him behave better.

And Grandma, too! All I could think, watching those scenes, is how screwed up that kid is gonna be. Here's what he learns: 1) Mommies come and go, and you can't ever be sure they will be there from one day to the next. 2) You can make Mommy come back by being good and not crying or being angry. If she still doesn't come back, well, sorry, kid, I don't know what to tell you. It's Chinatown. I feel bad bringing this up at his time of sorrow, but does anyone else think Ji-woong looks like Minna no Tabo? www.sanrio.co.jp/english/characters/w_chara/ta180.gif
