I just wanted to make a new story thread (ta-da). I will be so angry if the house that they were waiting at (where no one answered) is ESM's brother's house! But maybe if they ever-so-slooowly walk back to the car, they'll see Mr. Park on his way up there. I can't believe that they didn't hide their car better - think "hm, if this is the right place, then we don't want Mr. Park or ESM to know that we're here; then they might alert what's-his-name." I'm thinking that it's a coincidence that everyone in town doesn't know what's-his-name. He probably never goes out b/c of his injuries, so the only people they see going to the house are Mr. Park or ESM. They should've asked for their names. But then again, why the hostility from the woman who was like "no, and now I shall lock my gate rudely in front of you"? Ooh, I hope that the escort girl takes up the offer of rent! I hope that she never brings clients home, or that might offend Eun-soo. I don't think she's that kind of escort, but still. And, wow, security deposites are expensive in Korea. Even if, say, 200k is the same as, say, $600 or something (typical rent for a "room" in chicago, right?), that would mean that the security deposit, in dollars, would be the equivalent of $3k! Phew!

It's my understanding that rents in Korea are pretty low, relative to what a mortgage would cost, because the security deposits are very high. It's a trade-off; the landlord gets a bunch of money to hold, and you get lower running expenses.

It's like "geez, that's why we rung the doorbell, so we wouldn't be coming into your property." I guess that's why they were milking the relationship between escort girl and ESM so much, they just wanted to segue from that to what looks like a potential relationship. One more thing that's been bugging the heck out of me. On Friday's episode, how did they think they were not caught when they were following like three freakin' feet away from Mr. Park all the time. Like people don't use rearview mirrors.

Thanks, Lucy. Good for long-termers, bad for people like me. I move around too much.
Exactly! I mean, there they were, driving along behind Mr. Park and assuming they wouldn't be noticed. It was especially bad back when they had the red car that was recognizable. And every time they got out of their car and were looking around for him, I wanted to wring their necks. Hello, if he passes, he will see you!

But you get the money back, I think. ? Maybe.
Oh, and hachiue, in response to your first post, I am sure it was ESM's brother's house. Mr. Park pulled up to the house almost all the way, saw them at the gate, and scrammed just before they turned around.

Boy, Hee-soo really isn't thinking, is she? After hearing that Mr. Park noticed Jin-kook and Eun-soo following him, she goes with her hubby the next day! She really didn't think her Mother-in law wouldn't know where she was going?! And telling everyone at the breakfast table that she took their car was such a bad idea. It was an interesting confrontation, but look at the story her MIL came up with.
And why isn't evil MIL enforcing that contract, since she basically owns HS? Shouldn't she be saying, "You work for ME now!"?

No kidding! She probably realizes that if she did enforce it, then she would be the bad guy. What, can she take Hee-soo to court? There were no witnesses! I thought it was especially annoying that they ended the episode with them going up to the gate again. Does this happen in all long dramas (I don't remember it with OMR)? It took like 3 days to find out her bro's information, a couple days for this, and argh, they should actually move the story along! I thought it was weird that Hee-soo went with them because that left Jin-kook all alone in the house where he was easily stealable by ESM. And I wonder where Mr. Park put Jin-kook's car - you would think that they could easily find it since they seem to be such good amateur detectives (oh, yes, that's sarcasm).

You're reading my mind hachiue! 1) I'm waiting for the ESM to bring up the contract again and can't wait to see what kind of punishment she dishes out. It better be good! 2) I agree with all the circles the story has been going in, I want action! I want to see how Eunsoo reacts to know that that girl might be moving in, I want to know what the nature of her job is, I want to know whether JM's mom will get her eye sight back and I want ESM to finally make her move! 3) ;D I like your sarcasm. Wouldn't it be funny if they had bought a minivan instead and then refer to it as the "Mystery Van" ala Scooby Doo? They could at least have tinted the windows for goodness sake...or taken some pointers on stalking from Miran.

I like the turn this discussion has taken. Myself, I've started thinking of Eun-soo privately as "Nancy Drew." He loves that sleuthing!

ESM wouldn't have been onto them (not as much, anyway) if they hadn't committed one of the cardinal errors of mysteries: when discussing something that someone else must, at all cost, not overhear, turning your back to the door, because the person who musn't hear will show up silently in the doorway, and the beans will be spilt.

Argh, blast them for not reading more detective novels! I was worried, myself, that they were discussing it outside - I mean, the ESM could've been lurking under the balcony - but it turns out that wasn't the danger at all.
I was so excited to see the back of evil oppa's head! I half expected him to have a robot arm and stroke a cat because they were being so mysterious. And why would they turn on the light? I bet it's just to tempt Eun-soo into staying there and they're going to sneak out the back door/window/whatever.
And, Paris? Okay, my first thought on this was that we've never seen ESM speaking French and no one in France speaks Korean. Or, very few people at least, and I've never heard of a Korean sector of Paris where she could get along without it. And I know that if you're traveling with money it should be okay, but I'm sure that even they won't be able to get a translater - they may not even know it's Korean and get some other translator. And, why buy a plane ticket in her own name? That's just shoddy. I have lost respect for her.
And, lastly, blast them for being so slow - they're delaying their trip to catch evil oppa because ... esm's already left the country? What can they do about her? Catch her brother, maybe, so she has to pay them off/come back and give everything back or lose him.
Also, galacticchick, I think that we should totally write our own K-drama. We can have the mystery van, the evil oppa with the robot arm and the cat, and our superior detective-novel reading skills.

You are cracking me up, Hachiue!
Totally! I don't get why evil oppa is evil just like his sister. I mean, now that I think about it, I get it, but I expected him to be some kind of placid victim-type on whose behalf ESM is, well, being evil. For both of them to be evil is just OVERKILL. LOL

GC and hachiue, please write us a drama! That would be hilarious! That Mystery van bit had me in tears! And a cat is all that man needs to perfect is evil look. Totally! I don't get why evil oppa is evil just like his sister. I mean, now that I think about it, I get it, but I expected him to be some kind of placid victim-type on whose behalf ESM is, well, being evil. For both of them to be evil is just OVERKILL. LOL That's what I thought, too. That's really lousy of her brother to be a part of a plan that would include his sister sacrificing so much of her life. Oppa: "OK, sis, this is what we'll do: you marry the husband, build trust for 16 years, then BAM! That's when we'll get them. I'll say put in the rocking chair" ESM: "But brother, why do I have to live with that family while you stay here? Oppa: "Because this is the Command Center, and I'm the leader! The leader always leads from the command center!" ESM: "Ah-ra-so" (sorry, girls. I got a jump start on your dialog for your drama )

We'll have the audience scratching their heads for sure. You know who the back of oppa's head reminded me of? The landlord from OMR. Paris? I thought they said they would choose a country where they didn't need a visa, I've never been, but I'm pretty sure it isn't one of those countries. I'm really hoping she bought two tickets, one for Paris under her real name and another one to like...Uzbekistan or something where she is actually going. But my brother says that the plot has to be easy so that Hesso & the Gang and catch her. If this is it, then I too am disappointed at ESM and "smart" Mr. Park. Re: the cat! I'm in, lets make it a Scottish Fold and teach it to do an evil giggle.

That's okay, we'll make sure to credit you in the script. The landlord? You talking about the one who rented out the Park's restaurant/tiny apt? I never paid attention to him for some reason. Oh well. Now, I know that we wouldn't need a visa to go to Paris because our passports would say U.S. However, someone from S. Korea might need to have a visa. And I agree with your brother; they do need to make her easy to find. However, I think they chose Paris because it's literally on the other side of the world from Korea. And it's a romantic, hedonistic city just right for ESM. And, yes, that's the perfect cat. I'm torn, though, between a rhinestone collar and one with spikes. Maybe one with both spikes and rhinestones? That would be so gaudy.
