That guy (the character) disturbs me and creeps me out. (and Oh, the overacting!) The way the character makes a fool of himself over his daughter and is so immature, takes money from his poor mother, etc. Actually, there are quite a few characters in this who disturb me, including the guy who just signed the power of attorney over to his wife. And the brain-damaged son, played by an actor who, in my opinion, is not doing a very good job. I'm surprised they chose to take on a sensitive topic like that; it's hardly ever successful when you have someone who isn't mentally impaired/challenged play a character who is. "I Am Sam," anyone? "The Other Sister"?
I keep watching this, hoping that I'll warm up to the plot and the characters, but I'm not getting very far. I do think the rich son is cute, and I like the young couple (except when she pouts). I especially like the newlywed husband, who is not the goofball I thought he would be but rather a very young guy who actually knows just how to handle his father-in-law--politely but without letting him scapegoat him, and with just enough good humor. I also like the security-guard dad and his daughter.
But other than that, the characters, as I've said before, don't seem to have any affection for each other, and they all have weird character flaws. That bothers me; I need to have a reason to be interested in them. I hope that maybe soon they will develop into people I can actually like.

I don't know if it is the hair, the actor, the character, but he annoys me just as much as HK did. He has the most irritating voice, I sometimes lower the TV down when he's talking because he's so LOUD! It takes a while for the young groom to get things but he seems to have a good heart. I just can't take him too seriously as the husband type when he has a purple daisy on his fuschia shirt w/a white blazer.

Lucy, I was pretty ho-hum about this series until episode #10, when things suddenly picked up pretty dramatically. So, please stick it out until at least then, and if you still don't care for it, then at least you gave it a fair shot, right?
Oh, by the way, over in the California board (and in the great tradition of OMR's "Mean Grandma" and "Evil Aunt") we've come to refer to Min-sup as "Lazy Boy" . . . and I can hardly think of a more appropriate nickname for the guy!

Thanks Mikey...
I am glad to know things pick up because I'm not terribly impressed so far (I saw epi 2 tonight). I think Lucy said it most eloquently in her post...I kept agreeing with everything she wrote! LOL
I'll keep watching because I'm a sucker for K-Dramas, but it's nice to know I'll actually *enjoy* it by next week. ;-)

Thanks for the encouragement, Mikey. I didn't see the episode number last night, but I think we're at about #6. It did strike me that there's just a bunch of stuff happening rather than a coherent plot, so it's good to know better things are in store. Maybe they're just taking a long time laying the groundwork. Did I mention how charming I think the relationship between the poorer sister and brother is? I like how she is cheerful all the time and tells her brother, "We have to stay strong for mom and dad." That's one mature little lady. Anyone else think she is going to be the person whose love redeems the ne'er-do-well rich son of the golf player? (Man, I gotta learn their names!) And finally, Mikey: Lazy Boy! LOL! I'm definitely going to use that one!

It will be interesting to see how they meet, especially since the guy never seems to leave his room. Maybe she'll see him at the bottom of the ditch he fell into yesterday. I thought it was hilarious how he bought the motorcycle, was listening to the hard rock--and had that horrible helmet. It just cracked me up, it looks like the kind people wear when they are in a Vespa or other low powered electric bikes. He needs a tougher, cooler helmet.

Yeah, and what also cracked me up was the fact that he was out there revving his engine for several minutes, just sitting there, until his father came out to speak to him. THEN he peeled off. How juvenile. It was like, "I'm going to sit here until Dad comes out and then I'll BURN him, man!" LOL

I thought "Lazy Boy" lol was an artist (painter). Didn't Granny tell him he should be painting instead of running around and fighting? Did she mean the house? Or is he indeed an artist?

I thought "Lazy Boy" lol was an artist (painter). Didn't Granny tell him he should be painting instead of running around and fighting? Did she mean the house? Or is he indeed an artist? At the beginning of the show, she was cleaning an upstairs room with paintings leaning against the wall, and moaning how "he" should paint at least. I think it was his studio--a suspiciously clean and tidy studio, too. Bo

I seem to remember (back in episode #1 or #2) that Lazy Boy mentioned that he was offered a job at a college in the country, but that the salary they offered him wasn't worth the long commute. ;D Is he therefore an out-of-work, college-level art teacher? I'm not sure, but if he was offered a college job, he must be well educated. BTW, I'm sure that he's really an artist (and not a house painter ) But, has anybody taken a good look at some of his artwork (the stuff that's decorating his studio)? Looks to me like some pretty so-so stuff. No wonder it won't sell!

Hi Lucy, I have to disagree the young boy that plays the mentally challenged role, seems very good to me (I have worked with MR consumers for many years) however I think the writers did a poor job of giving him a more involved role. He is left alone way to much.
