The two (non-historical) dramas on now seem to be all about the evil stepmoms.
What's with Eric's mom? So far, we know that she a) really really wants to be on the family books but isn't, b) apparently hates Eric and, I think, wants to get him disinherited, c) has pledged to help him get Ji-eun accepted for money and apparently some property and d) thinks that Ji-eun is like her and maybe that she'll be an allay.
I think that after Saturday's episode there will be a lot more of her in the 2nd half of the drama; sadly, because I really don't like her.
She just looks annoying; but you think maybe that you're wrong, until she opens her mouth and the wails that are harpy shrieks come out. I just don't like her.
Don't you feel just a tad bit sorry for Eric after realizing that is what he had to grow up with? Ugh, I shiver.

Thanks for bringing her up; I've been meaning to say something about her. Everytime I see her, I feel ill. She just looks like a complete slut to me. Harsh language, I know, but she is cunning (remember what she said about knowing how to get rid of other women?), not-too-clean-looking, blowsy, and ill-bred. To me, that all adds up to "slut," which is, in my opinion, too often used to mean simply a promiscuous woman.

I was trying to think whom she resembles, and in the restaurant scene, it came to me. Chairman Mao! No, really, with the hair and the way she tips her head back! Wasn't it freaky when she said, "Smile," and then FLASH there it was on her face? I thought Ji-eun was going to faint from fright. I don't think Eric grew up with her. I think she's a recent acquisition for his dad. Maybe started up with her shortly before his mother died, or maybe after the son died. I think she's interesting. Bo

Can we say, "majorly disfunctional family here"? No wonder Eric is a few ants short of a picnic!

The scene at lunch, and specifically when she was all sweetness but then turned into a cold calculating witch as soon as Eric left and back into a smiley sweet lady when he returned, was what made me post this initially.
She's kind of like Mi-ran but worse in several ways. Mi-ran actually seems to have felt love for Will - sure it turned into a psychosis as soon as she realized that she might lose him, but in the most recent flashback (with the keychain) she seemed sweet and happy.
However, I don't think that the black widow, which is what I shall call her now, has any sort of true feeling for anyone. She's a complete facade. And, finally, the reason that is so scary, is because (unlike evil stepmom on MPC) she has, so far, no reason to do that - no motive like she wants to destroy the family or even steal their money or revenge or anything. She just is not a real person. Either this is bad writing, bad acting, or (what I'm reading into it) a very ominous, inhuman character.

Did I miss something? Maybe I read the subtitles wrong or maybe someone can fill me in on whats missing. I thought the step-mother was trying to make sure that he couldn't marry Ji Eun. And in tonight's episode it seemed that she was trying to help them be able to get married. I've got to be missing something. lol

But she still thinks Ji-eun is a gold digger; she thinks she recognizes her own kind. I have not yet watched this weekend's episodes, though, so maybe more came out. Bo
