If you read my post in the 'Rate The Phoenix' thread then you know that I felt the first episode was a bit dull. I think the drama picked up in the 2nd episode though. It was definitely better and more entertaining to watch. After the first week, this drama has left a good impression on me. I'll keep watching. After all, the great Hwang Bo Yoon (Lee Suh Jin) works in it. It'd be funny if Lee Eun Joo were to call him "Do Ryun Nim".
However, I just wish KBS and MBC would stop using the whole "Let's sleep together so our parents will let us get married. It's the only way they'll approve" thing. I've watched many SBS dramas where people just sleep together for the sake of sleeping together. I guess KBS and MBC prefer to take the more conservative approach.

Yeow. I agree with everything I've read on various posts so far about this drama, but I think its worst problem is that it's moving too fast for us to form an attachment to any of the characters. How can we possibly care about these caricatures of human beings? DJG moved like wildfire through the first three episodes, compared with this drama--it moved through several people's entire lifetimes and JG's whole girlhood--but still, we learned the right things about people to care about them, almost immediately. This thing is just so cliche-ridden it is collapsing under its own folly. I can only hope this is merely a set-up and it'll get more interesting. But it's been two whole episodes already... Bo PS - Were we supposed to be intrigued by our first glimpse of "Eric"? He didn't say anything! He didn't DO anything! He just stood there, lumpish! The only reason I knew he was an important character was because of Soju's original thread! (By the way, Soju, thanks for the helpful illustration by your name - )

They didn't say anything to each other. She didn't excuse herself at least and he just stood there staring.

The girl, Ji-Eun? is spoiled rotton, I really could not stand her. Well, that was just in the beginning of the show and all characters sure would change down the road. I did not care much about Soo-Jun at first in YH either. I guess I will still keep watching. I just wondered how much could she change to be more likable in just 26 episodes.

I was only able to catch part of Saturday's episode but I thought it was okay. I think the actress who plays Ji-Eun plays a very convincing "princess". However, I have this question, is Bok-ja her sister or her friend?

I think that Eric is that young man who has a crew hair cut kind of style and a mustache? In the opening credits for "The Phoenix" he's the guy who was driving the car along side Ji-eun who was walking slowly. I think that's who Eric is. I'm sorry if I'm wrong on this one!
When I first started watching the drama, my first impression was that it was dull too. There seemed to be no action...it was all talk. But now it looks like the story line is picking up and things are getting really interesting.

Cute avatar. Lovely! And i just have to add how cool Soju's is too -- very clever! OK, back to the Phoenix. I I don't like that Ji-eun girl AT ALL -- so whiny. And she really shouldn't be driving (Why on earth would her boyfriend get in a car with her after she nearly ran him over? I'd take the bus.) She has great hair though. As for the guy (I can't remember his name, the King Card ), the dimples are cute, but a haircut would do him good. He's no Min-jae, more like a Hyun-kyu.

Your avatar is cute too, Jenny! ;D Hello Kitty rules!
I watched the re-runs of "The Phoenix" today because I didn't watch all of the ones last week. I think this drama will definitely get better. I really want to know what will happen between Ji-eun and Seo-hoon (I think I spelled that right?).

Trust me, it will get better. ;D It's a definite hit with viewers in Hawaii.

I'm still watching, but it isn't as exciting to me as Jang Geum was. Just too modern and the characters are not as deep. It is moving fast and I really don't like the main characters, but I'm giving them a chance and will keep watching for a while longer.

Arggh, dreadful!
I have just recently gotten the schedule from Ch. 28, and finally figured out why I was missing episodes of AOW. I did not know it ran twice a week, and it is difficult to get listings of programs on Ch. 28. I was pleased to hear that another subtitled historical drama was just starting.
Instead, we get this dreadful modern soap opera. I have not entirely given up on it, but I am pretty close. Are there any other historical dramas starting soon?

I'm kinda stumbling thru this message board.... so forgive me if this question makes no sense... the culture shock of PHOENIX is something I'll have to get used to... DJG was just so classy. I'm hoping that PHOENIX will grow on me... Someone wrote: "I was pleased to hear that another subtitled historical drama was just starting" could you elaborate? I'm in Oak Park Illinois so I don't know if we're on the same cyberlength. thanks

And where did you get a Channel 28 schedule? I'd love to see one!
