This might just be me and you ID, but before we're done with this we might as well take a look at this matchup. Hopefully some others will chime in!
ARCHFIEND vs YU GEUMPIL
Most viewers would probably say that these are the greatest warriors on their respective shows.
Archfiend has been hotly debated in this fanclub, particularly with regard to Yi Ui-Bang, and (to a lesser degree) with Du Kyungsung.
Yu Geumpil's toughest competition on EWG would probably come from Sudal, the King of Bekjae, and the sworn brother Shin Seunkyum.
At any rate, these two were portrayed as the two most prolific fighters.
Both were undefeated in head to head fights.
WHO DO YOU THINK IS GREATER AND WHY?

If you're talking pure one-on-one, i would say Archfiend...i mean, he's a legendary tae-kwon-do expert, and is just plain vicious on the battlefield.
Yu Geumpil however, is a more inspiring leader (at least based on the show EWG), and draws energy from his army, who in turn, have been energized by his leadership (like the time he fought back Bekjae, though he was in exile).
So the mood he & his warriors create i think lowers the spirit of the enemy, making it "easier" for him to go one on one with someone, and just adds to his image.
Am i making sense?

What you said makes todtal sense JP. He defeated several generals with his soldiers at the height of their morale. "Home court advantage," so to speak. He did defeat Yaesul with both armies in a frenzy though. Having said that, there are certainly more instances of the Archfiend engaging in head to head battle than almost anyone else in the K-dramas that I have watched. His status in Tae Kwon Do history also makes it difficult to choose anyone over him head to head (as you mentioned). Thanks JP, I had hoped that someone would find this post interesting.
