so MC
as a fellow artist, where do you draw the line between something that is artistically beautiful and that which borders on or is pornographic in nature (relating this to the earlier topic of women's bodies)

Oh no we're getting serious in the tangent board! OK since MC brought it up, here's my opinion on it too. On the one hand, I don't think any of the pictures that were deemed inappropriate were that bad, and I'm not saying that because I posted one of them! But on the other hand, I understand Mr. Paulus' position that he wants to maybe stop things before it gets out of control. And believe me I have seen message boards that got WAY out of control and they were banned by the main hosting site (ezboard) because of it. On one board it got to the point where no image linking is allowed anymore and there is a screening process even after you register with the main hosting site. That's why even though I had more pics of the actress playing Aran I decided not to post them because I believe it could have been grounds for complaints that there is questionable content on this site. Plus it seemed to make VIB very ill. ;D But anyway... Judging by the people that post here I don't think this board will ever get out of hand, but you never know so I guess the moderators would rather err on the side of caution. I do think shutting down a thread entirely was a bit rash though.

All right. Hi VIB: My view is that while the people that run the board can have their paramaters as they like, I find that people in general are bombarded with sexually inspired images appearing in unhealthy ways on a regular basis. Few men here will dispute the degradation of male dignity, along with that of women, being presented in great proliferation. The graphical representation of men and women put forth in the spirit of a life-affirming dignity and joy should be seen, by those among us mature enough to cease giggling at body parts, as respectable.

Hello everyone,
There was some miscommunication but that has all been worked out. We don't technically have a set of rules but I think Chung Kyun provided a fair assessment of what should basically be commmon sense to everyone as far as forum etiquette goes.
I closed the "sexiest woman on tv" thread. The thread was closed because it had gone way off topic. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The current "sexiest woman on tv" thread will stay closed but you're more than welcome to start a new one. I'll gladly supply the visual aid. ;D
Take care. Have a nice day.

well first of all im agreeing what you are saying. But on the side note, i really havent seem much of any brutal violence pictures in this board. The only ones that might be alittle brutal would be the archfiend death scens pictures ,however, i remember that the orginal poster of that thread had first warned up about the picture before we click the links. I think showing the pictures of bikini is fine personally but for some posters, they might not had expected to see this in the aow board and might be shock or get offended by it. (Keep in mind that there might be little children visiting this board =P) I guess the mods just don't want to get things out of hand and give those who is visiting the board for the first time a wrong image of what the board really is about.

Reaction to the upcoming "Central Committee Swimsuit Calendar" should serve as a barometer for audience sensibilities. From what I understand, the swimsuit stylings of Minister Yi will hope to relaunch the K-Mart Gomez Addams Signature Line of swimwear. Capital, old man!

As an fine art photographer who has almost exclusively photographed the female form I sympathize with Master Crabby's position to a degree but we are also victims of our current cultural context.
The dopey frat boy mentality that pervades American culture has pretty much tainted the popular consideration of the female form. A "sexy" woman in the prevailing view is translated as an 18 to 25 year old anorexic with a standardized array of surgical enhancements.
Given the fact that women are very important contributors to this board I would be vigilant to avoid any offense along gender lines.
Our illogically forgiving attitude towards the depiction of graphic violence is to some degree rooted in the sado-masochistic flaws that crop up periodically in the Judeo-Christian-Islamic continuum.
These are substantial and fundamental cultural issues but if we want to start the revolution here, I'm game!

not entirely. to me, a sexy women is not limited to a 18-25 year old anorexic. it is just a beautiful women.

I don't mean to disappoint anyone, but my intent on this topic was that if we can accept depictions of people suffering as being a neccesary part of portraying history, why should simple images of people dressed barely (sorry) be so threatening when they are not degrading, that's all. I mean, TV shows and movies and games are heavily marketed at us, many with a seeming romance of harm. Sexually provocative material is also present, but it seems that when people draw the line to protect young minds, violence is assumed to be less damaging than, say, nipples. It's odd. We should remember that some of the great Art Nouveau artists were persecuted by the Nazis in the name of "decency". Who was committing the obscenity there?

I wish I had tight abs like that.

Whoever took this shot seems more interested in the model's abs than her face. In this image the abs are more carefully lit than the face and I suspect they have been Photoshopped as well.
As a 50 year old the ab fetish is a puzzle to me. It's seems like just another mind game to play on women to make them feel inadequate about their bodies. It's a slick way to put down women under the bogus guise of health consciousness and body conditioning.

As well, as a hot body. so, did my thread in general forum offend you? VIB, had a "sexiest man thread" with pics. so i was not allowed to start a "sexiest women thread"? it was all good fun for the men on this forum {especially me, who is now in love with jeon ji-hyun} and even some women joined in. so general du, are you saying that it is wrong for men to have fun, and look at pics of women, but it is alright for women, to look at pics of men? what happened to equal rights?
