Anyone remember subtitles in AOW that were a little awkward, funny, etc. ? I *swear* I remember Ui-bang slamming his hand on his desk and screaming and the subtitle was "Horse Hockey!" ;D (for those that don't know that's a cleaned-up version of saying B.S.) Seems like the person doing the subtitles watched a lot of the 70s sitcom M*A*S*H 'cause that's the type of thing Colonel Potter would say on that show. Anyway I was surprised to see that given that the subtitles usually stick to English without any slangs or colloquialisms. AOW in ebonics would be funny...like the Archfiend to Aran would be like "bitch don't play me!" ;D

mace who does the subs for yours? kbc28 has a great subtitler named michael, an admin here, well more than that. those of us in the ny area have ours done by christy...i forgot her last name....can't believe that...want to say kim.....anyway she does a great job but there are definitely times when slang slips in. i don't mind it at all, it just seems sort of funny to think that was what they were saying, knowing it wasn't, but imagining they were.

Yeah we also get the show subtitled by Christy and I do believe her last name is Kim. It's fine with me too but it just stood out so much between all deign to sees and your grace is immeasurables. The people translating the modern Korean dramas seem to be getting brave with the American slang, I know in one drama they had a middle-aged Korean lady saying "Oh my bad!" which I thought was unusual!

KBC28 in Chicago has Aow translated by Christy Kim. Michael Han did Janggeum and I think a few more shows in Chicago. I can't tell you which other ones. I so far have only been watching Aow and DJG. Christy Kim came in on our baord a while back as a guest poster. Haven't seen her around for a while.

mace, you are too funny! ;D When you think about, though, American slang is even funny when Americans say it, I think. Next time, you say a slang word, stop and think about the word-s- for a moment. It's comical!

yea i cant imagine what 'll happen if the show didnt have subtitles. I'll probably think most of the characters are insane or have speech problem especially KDS( as he always say KIM Kiu WAI!)cuz they yell so loud most of the time.
