The empress dowager was awakened from her sleep by the sounds of loud music and laughter. Sending out escort Choe to find out what was going on, she found out that Chung Kyun was having a party in the palace courtyard. Enraged, she drew her robes around her and went outside to confront the arrogant Chung. Walking up to the table where Chung Kyun was seated, geisha in his lap, she thundered, "What the hell is this? What in God's name are you doing having a celebration at this time of night?!" Chung shoved the geisha off his lap and stood up, smirking audaciously directly into the empress' face. "The emperor" he began, "gave me this residence as a gift. So, if I wish to celebrate, I will celebrate with the emperor's blessing." "EE LUHN MOHT DEHN NOM!" (you worthless bastard) the empress shouted. She turned to go find her son. Chung Kyun watched her retreating figure and downed another helping of wine, laughing

hehe LCB i totally can The empress dowager met with her son who had also been awakened by the revelry outside. "Hwang Sang!" she chided him, "how could you stand idly by as this man rudely uses our palace quarters for his own personal use?!" "Dae Woo Bae Ha, I DID give him the residence as a gift-" She slammed her fist onto the table. "I don't care what excuse you have! This will come to a stop soon in any case once Kyung Dae Seung is married to the princess." Myong Jong's eyes flew open. "Kyung Dae Seung?!" The empress nodded approvingly. "The general is just what the imperial household needs in order to reclaim its authority. I have already asked him to consider the offer and I have no doubt that he will accept." "mother" myong jong asked cajolingly, "the chungs have provided us invaluable service. Would it be so bad for Chung Kyung to marry the princess?" The empress dowager turned her steely gaze to her son. "this man celebrates at this ungodly hour and you push a marriage for him to the princess? this is a perfect example of how the Chung clan undermines the imperial authority! My answer is no and that is final!" The emperor stood up so fast that his chair fell backwards. "I am the emperor of this land and I say that if I wish Su An to marry Chung Kyun that she will do so!" "Hwang Sang!" the empress shouted angrily. But her son had already left the room in a rage. "merciful buddha" she sighed to herself.

The next day, Huh Seung went to pay a visit to Chung Kyun. Sitting down with the chief convoy, Kyun asked him, "So what business brings you to my home?" Huh leaned forward conspiratorially. "I heard of what happened last night in the palace. Your family's influence exceeds that of the emperor, and I'd like to offer my services." Kyun raised an eyebrow. "Why would you want to serve us?" he asked warily. "Because it is becoming quite plain who the true power in koryo is" Huh replied with a smile. "I'd like to be on the winning side, if you know what I mean." Kyun remained silent for so long that Huh was starting to wonder if he had been found out. Finally, he grinned and said, "Well, if the chief convoy wishes to enter my service, I see no reason to refuse. Care for a drink?" Chief Huh smiled and nodded.

When news of Chung Kyun's nighttime festivities reached the ears of Kyung Dae Seung, the general's first reaction was one of extreme anger. Lieutenant Kim was none too pleased either.
"What do you intend to do, Jang Goon?"
Kyung leaned forward on his desk and sighed. There was only one thing he really could do. "I will go to the empress and tell her that I will do as she asks."
Lieutenant Kim blinked a few times in stunned silence. "You mean, marry the princess?"
Kyung nodded.

At the palace, Myong Jong was still fuming over the argument he had had with his mother. He was all set to tell Chung Chong Bu that he had changed his mind when his attendant announced that Princess Su An was requesting an audience. "Deul Luh Ha La," (let her in) he ordered. The princess walked slowly to her father and then dropped suddenly to her knees. The emperor was taken completely by surprise. "What is the meaning of this?" "Hwang Sang Bae Ha," she began in a shaking voice. "I cannot bear to see my father and grandmother argue over the matter of my marriage. If it means peace between you, then I will do as you ask and marry Chung Kyun." After finishing her speech, she began to cry. Myong Jong was flooded by a wave of shame and guilt. How could he have been so selfish? The sight of his daughter weeping on her knees, making such a great sacrifice moved him deeply. Standing up, he went to his daughter and knelt by her, wiping her tears away. "Su An-ah", he apologized, "forgive your father for being so foolish. I thought only of myself and acted with complete disregard for the feelings of others. Your actions have shown me the error of my ways and I will reconcile myself to the empress, your grandmother. There is no need for you to make such a sacrifice." Hugging her father, she cried, "Your grace is immeasurable!"

Not looking forward to seeing the Empress Dowager, Kyung Dae Seung was looking for any excuse to delay his trip to the palace. That evening, he stood outside his home, looking into the night sky. Behind him, Soran asked quietly, "Won't you go inside? It's getting cold." Kyung turned his head slightly and smiled at her concern. "You go on ahead. I will be in shortly." Bowing, Soran went inside the house. Sighing, Kyung turned his attention back to the sky, but was disturbed by a sudden sense of uneasiness. Something wasn't right. Standing absolutely still, he heard an almost undetectable rustle of leaves behind him. Grabbing his spear from where it had been leaning against the wall, he quickly swung it at the unseen intruder. He felt his weapon strike a sword and took a defensive step backwards. The man emerged from the shadows and rushed at the general. Kyung barely had time to gather his wits before his assailant was upon him.

Inside the general's home, Soran, Lieutenant Kim and others heard the sounds of fighting coming from outside. Soran's eyes widened. "Jang Goon!" she realized. She and the others ran outside to find Kyung Dae Seung battling a strange man clad entirely in black. Lieutenant Kim drew his sword, ready to come to the aid of his young master, but Kyung ordered him to stay back. Though the two fighters seemed evenly matched, eventually the general brought the intruder to his knees. "What are you doing in my home!" Kyung asked his opponent. The man remained silent. Kyung raised his weapon, about to strike him down when the man began to gesture to him. Slowly lowering his spear, Kyung tried to understand what he was saying. "He says that he came here to kill you for the Archfiend." Both men turned in the direction of the voice.
