When brue entered the little temple, duduel was facing the lavishly decorated altar that Ui min had prepared. he turned at the sound of brue's steps. "sun sah!' brue shouted welcomingly. he took duduel's hand. "welcome back to the imperial city!"
duduel chuckled softly. "so the imperial dragon of kaelim is now sitting on an egg?"
brue smiled. "yes, i am so happy for hyung nim!"
duduel smiled. "i think the archfiend is happy enough for all of shilla." choi bu then entered the temple. "choi jang goon" duduel greeted.
"Sunsah" he replied, bowing. his unusually formal manner was not missed by either duduel or brue.
"choi jang goon," is something bothering you?" duduel inquired.
"not at all" he replied.
duduel nodded and left it alone. turning back to brue, he said, "i understand that the empress was ill yesterday?"
brue nodded. "but she is much better today thanks to her new maidservant. she's the most extraordinary woman..."
duduel smiled at brue. "brue, it sounds as if you are quite taken with this girl."
brue looked embarrassed. "sunsah" was all he could say. duduel chuckled. "so" brue continued, "she spent all day with the empress and she felt much better. she worked so diligently that i suppose she wore herself out, she looked so tired this-"
"brue!' choi interrupted. "i'm sure duduel sunsah has better things to do than to hear you rattle off about some woman."
both duduel and brue cast surprised looks at him. choi bu was not really in the habit of interrupting people.
choi realized how he sounded. "i must go inspect the new recruits of the imperial army." bowing, he excused himself and left.
duduel watched him depart. "there is a cloud hanging over him" he muttered.
"pardon?" brue asked.
i pray it does not progress to a storm, duduel thought to himself
"...if one home defender stands on watch at a strong gateway he may drive terror deep into the heart of the enemy coming by a ten thousand."
