Yes. Be as silly as you'd like to be... <I'm hearing sighs from other admins already>

in all seriousness,
what's wrong with being silly and joking around with other members of the board?
i don't think we meant to be irritating with tangents...

in all seriousness, what's wrong with being silly and joking around with other members of the board? i don't think we meant to be irritating with tangents... Well, like I mentioned before, this is a pilot board, a test if you will. We aren't trying to demarcate a playground, but offer a freer space where people can go off-topic at will. Some people have felt that people have been consuming too much butter and salt in AoW board. I personally don't see much wrong, it's just that a lot of people tend to get easily annoyed with silliness that they aren't part of and yet they have to spend time reading it to discover that they're reading silly. Let's try to respect people's differing personalities. I hope this can be a step towards that goal. Internet has a great accommodating potential to be inclusive, and this is only one of such manifestations. As of now, I can't say this is the right, workable way, but we're still learning. ;^)

in all seriousness, what's wrong with being silly and joking around with other members of the board? i don't think we meant to be irritating with tangents... I understand.. i was one of the people who suggested it because i didn't find the tangents offensive...but it was a lot of stuff to sort through. If you were new to the board, it would be hard to sort through everything and figure out what was about the show/historical content, and what was about the members (specifically their creative side). i went away for the Memorial Day weekend and had literally 2 pages of new messages...a little overwhelming for the average reader, no? With this board, we can keep that creativity going, but allow for others to focus strictly on the show, if they wish. In the next couple of days, i might move some of those type of messages here, but there should be a message on the other board referring people... Thanks for being a part of the comminuty!

. . . i was one of the people who suggested it because i didn't find the tangents offensive...but it was a lot of stuff to sort through. Boy, I guess you were reading my mind, JP! I too was thinking that the old AOW board was just getting a little overwhelming at times, especially if I missed a day or two. I didn't have much interest in the "tangents" myself, but of course I could see that they were popular with many fans, so I didn't want to spoil anybody's fun, either. So, thanks, JP and Michael! I hope that this seperate AOW Tangents forum will work to everyone's benefit!

Pahya: Thanks for the tangent board. Some of the topics in the general board got bit stale after the first few post(Haiku, new jobs, etc). I stopped going to the board as the information about what happened in he shows i missed was lost in the huge traffic. I think the tangent board is agood ides for those who are close to some of the members and want to chew the fat here. thanks as they say :"your grace is immesarable"

I regret to inform you, velvetinkbrush, that silliness is not a Constitutionally protected form of expression. If you choose to be silly, you would run the risk of incurring legal liability for your actions as well as invoking the wrath of all your right-minded fellow citizens. Surely, we have all had to face down our silly impulses at some point in our lives. Just the other day I imagined that a fitting finale to AOW would be Yi Ui-bang leading a chorus of resurrected warriors in a rousing rendition of "There Is Nothing Like A Dame". As I wrestled with this silly idea my dignity won out and I returned to the studied sobriety of my daily routine. I hope by sharing this that I dissuade my brothers and sisters from being enticed by the unproductive and potentially dangerous enchantments of silliness.

i think it may be too late for you afterall. Perhaps, but by at least recognizing the seriousness of my silliness I hope to begin dealing with my problem.

Perhaps, but by at least recognizing the seriousness of my silliness I hope to begin dealing with my problem. i'm afraid that once that silliness gets loose it is almost impossible to contain. it takes on a life all its own. you would require intense therapy and who knows what else to regain control. i do not wish you good luck with that.
