Well, I'm brand new to this whole Korean drama thing, having just viewed the first 18 episodes of Dae Jang Geum --- still waiting or the next two volumes to arrive.
Lee Young Ae is a beautiful woman. I found it hard to believe she was 35 when Dae Jang Geum was filmed. And from what little I've been able to read about her in the past couple of weeks, since I discovered the series, she is as beautiful inside as outside.
I think the woman who plays Jang Geum's mother on the show, whose name I do not know, is also very beautiful. Her voice is lovely to listen to. That's why hearing the original voices, even if I cannot understand the language, is so much better than if they were dubbed into English.
And finally (I know this is off subject for the Lee Young Ae thread - sorry), I have never seen such an adorable little girl as the actress who plays the young Jang Geum. I wish there could have been more episodes with her in them.
Thank you for all the pictures and videos of the heavenly Lee Young Ae. Someone compared her inner beauty to Grace Kelly. I'd compare her to Audrey Hepburn, instead.
Chuck

Hi, Chuck! I'm sorry, I just saw your post. Welcome to the wonderful world of Korean drama! I hope you continue to enjoy them. Out of curiosity, where do you live? (Generally. Don't post your address. LOL.) How did you get interested in this drama in the first place? Hoping we hear from you again,
Bo

Don't post your address. LOL.) How did you get interested in this drama in the first place? Hoping we hear from you again, Bo I live in Phoenix, AZ. I knew absolutely nothing about Korean drama just a few months ago. The closest thing to Dae Jang Geum I had ever seen was probably Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. But then I saw a recommendation for Dae Jang Geum on a message board, in a thread about favorite tv shows. I'm very happy I took the recommendation. I just finished watching the entire series, and it was absolutely wonderful. I try to get others to watch it, but it's difficult with such an expensive series to buy, and it is not available on Netflix, for some reason that is beyond my comprehension. I wrote them an email suggesting they carry it, but evidently there isn't enough demand yet. I just feel lucky to have found it, myself. Chuck

I heard that Lee Young Ae is currently looking for a new drama or movie to cast in. it's been over three years since her last appearance on screen which was on lady vengeance. i hope she succeeds.

Hi Chuck Welcome! It's nice to 'meet' another newbie to Korean drama! My first experience was also a few months ago with the Dae Jung Geum series. I was amazed and thrilled through the entire story. I hadn't seen anything close to it before. I feel lucky like you, because I found DJG by chance on my local cable - 'AZNTV' - channel. It's good to hear that LYA is looking to work again. She is a great actress. Unfortunately we seem to have gotten here too late, as this board is like a ghost town now. Other than the thread discussing Min Jung Ho, that is. I too would like to see Lee Young Ae in something new. Hopefully better than Lady Vengeance and Joint Security Area, both of which were pretty awful. But as Jang Geum, Lee Young Ae was perfect.
