I just got into the DJG bandwagon a couple of weeks ago - but as they say better late than never.
Anyway, I am confused - why do some people say that the drama consists of 70 episodes, while others say 54 episodes? Are they editing episodes which is why its down to 54? Please advise before I get the complete set from yesasia.com.
Thanks.

I think in foreign counttries, the shows are shorter, so they have more episodes. In korea, each episode is one hour. In korea, there are 54 episodes and in other countries, they are more.

Thank you very much - I will get the 54 episode set then.
btw, there was a scene where Sir Min and Jang Geum were frolicking by the ocean (Duk Gu wasn't in that) - my question is - if someone saw them - would that have been grounds for punishment as the court ladies are not supposed to be "intimate" with other men? Would Sir Min be punished too? or would it be just Jang Geum?

Both Min and JG would be punished if they were caught. Luckily, their relationship was not in much danger until towards the end of the show...

I bought the series from Hong Kong (which I advise NOT to do) and it was 70 + episodes, like Djanggum said, each episodes were about 40 minutes. When they aired here in the U.S. the show was about an hour long (maybe more?). Nothing was added or taken out, thankfully.

the 70 episodes is actually the cantonese/mandarin dubbed. shorter duration for each episode since the it's originally 54 episodes during it's run in korea. (60 mins per episode)

miswa, As others have pointed out to you already, the original series is 54 episodes but the 70 episodes ones have the same contents, just shorter per episode, it really doesn't matter.
I did want to comment on the scene you mentioned. It had always seem to me that the frolicking in the water was something out of character for MJH, especially at that stage of the series. I did think it very strange when I watch it, I don't know if they'd be punished, they were just playing in the water and I think JG's dad or uncle was around, at least he was, but not in the shots later in that scene.

Yes I think they would certainly be.... Does anyone remember in the beginning shows when JG's mom was accused of supposedly having an affair with one of the guards in the palace? They were not even close. She was just caught with a gift from him, and was sentenced to death because of it.. although that is not the real reason... The law that all the women in the palace belonged to the king was very strict back then...

Let me apologize beforehand if my question sounds really dumb, but I see these words: CF, OST and NG's on threads but I'm not sure if I know what it really means.
Does CF mean commercial film? OST for sound track? What's "O" for? as for NG - it seems like its for bloopers but is NG short for a Korean phrase?
Thanks again, everyone, for helping me out.
btw, last Sunday's marathon of DJG on AZN channel had that scene where Sir Min and DJG are walking on a cliff by the ocean (this was in Jeju island where she was exiled), and he asks her why she didn't check on his face and she said "your face is red, that means you have a fever". and he goes, "yes I have a fever" and holds both of her hands. woohooooooooo, i just had to rewind that scene over and over again... sorry, i'm gushing... but I just loved that ..

Hi miswa, I'm not sure, but cf are commercials so I guess commercial films is probably right. OST is for Original Soundtrack, and NGs, well, I always thought that they mean 'no good' which is just bloopers here in the US. I like the scene you mentioned and I had to rewatch that a few times too. It was closely followed by a scene where they talked at night and it's snowing outside.. did you see that yet? That's also nice.. plus many more closer to the end of the series.

I'm pretty sure CF means commercial film. ... and I have no idea what NG's stand for... but it's a common term

I saw the series via AZN and bought the DVDs from zoomovie and I can see that there are some deleted scenes in the DVDs I bought. The two scenes mentioned by miswan and lifan are my most favorites. It gets me everytime I saw them. They are so inocent in set up, yet they have a powerful punch!

Hi claire, Those scenes are indeed really effective and appropriate for the setting. I was very moved by the long conversations and just a few exchange of looks and hand holding -- not usual to see in this day and age!

Was MJH the captain of the investigation department? I thought he just went to Jeju Island to be with her. It was kind of funny, really, how he seems to follow her everywhere she goes and pops up whenever she needs something. ;D She must have missed him dearly those few years he was away in exile.
